Buying a new PS2 –
12-25-2005,04:46 PM
I'm thinking about buying a new PS2, which version has the best reliability? I'm not planning to mod it in any way, because I already have a modded PS2, but I would like it to last as long as possible. I tend to play for extended periods of time, so I'm a little concerned about some of the things I've heard...
Which of the recent versions is the most reliable? I'd like a slimline, and I expect those are the only ones on shelves anyway, but as far as I know there are now four different versions of Slimline PS2. Which one should I get, and how can I identify it before purchase?

v14's are the latest and are probly the only ones on the shelvs. but at the moment the list of chips compatible is pritty small. a v13 would probly be best because it is campatible with all the v12's chips and it has a fixed laser.

I'm really not planning to mod. I'm concerned only about reliability in long-term use. I have a modded PS2, but in order to prolong its useful life, I want a second PS2 to keep unmodded.
I don't ever want to be without a PS2, because I'm hopelessly addicted to certain games, and like a smack-addict, without my daily fix, I'll go insane.
