Building the perfect shooter list...
Building the perfect shooter list... –
My list of shooting games is fast becoming formidable. This is definitely my favorite genre now and I?m now completely obsessed with owning all of the best shooters out there. Now, to clarify - for the purpose of this discussion, when I say 'shooter' I am referring to any game in 1st or 3rd person where there are guns involved. That kinda broadens the scope of which games can be included. There are a few that I am considering:
1. Dead To Rights (http://www.deadtorights.com/) ~ this has been re-released for about 20 bucks as a ?classic? of shooters and is often compared to Max Payne. It also just came out on PC, so I'm curious to see how it compares to the Xbox version.
2. Half-Life (http://half-life.sierra.com/) ~ I'm already excited about HL2 just from reading about it.. But I never played the original on console or PC.
3. True Crime (http://www.activision.com/microsite/truecrime/) ~ now that it's out I've heard mostly disappointing opinions. Hope it's not as bad as what I've seen people say so far.
So those are a few of the ones I?m looking at right now. Any feedback would be cool. Also, I have listed below all the shooters I already own and others I plan to get.
Shooters I Have:
Time Splitters 2
Indiana Jones: Emperor?s Tomb
Return To Castle Wolfenstein
Enter The Matrix
Conflict: Desert Storm
GTA Vice City
SOCOM Navy Seals
Medal of Honor Frontline
Metal Gear Solid 2
Resident Evil Zero
Sum Of All Fears
Max Payne 2
Call Of Duty
RTCW Tides of War
Medal Of Honor Allied Assault / Spearhead
Battlefield 1942 / Road To Rome
Soldier of Fortune 2
Rainbow Six 3
Tomb Raider III
Shooters to get:
MOH Rising Sun
Half Life 2
S.W.A.T. Global Strike Team
DX: Invisible War
Metal Gear Solid 3
Red Faction 2 & 1
XIII ('Thirteen' to all the dummies out there) is a neat concept. Cel-Shaded animation in a 1st person shooter. It very cinematic, and plays like a living comic book. I've only played the first 3 or 4 levels, but liked it up to that point. The multiplayer mode is not bad and the AI is very good.
Of course, if you want a sure bet, go get SOCOM 2 and a network adapter. Go online, and say good bye to your family and friends for the winter...
I looked at the screens for XIII and although it looks very nicely rendered, I have a hard time getting into the whole 'comic book cartoon' feel of the game. I'm so used to realistic shooters and I tend to prefer realism, which is why Call Of Duty and Max Payne 2 are two of my new favorites.
I'll probably go with Dead To Rights for that very reason; gritty, realistic and face-paced.
u want a true shooter with balls that actually performs what shooters were designed to do? test ur reflexes and make u sweat buckets....try ikaragua for the dreamcast or gamecube.
get Killzone for the PS2.. it rocks and graphics will blow your mind
So, SO agree. Although i find Dodonpachi Daioujou a bit harder, especially after stage 5. And ESP Galuda is no joke either.
