broken tray motor? –
04-20-2005,04:35 PM
I've just recieved a ps2 from a friend who when trying to clean and re-adjust his laser accidently disconnected the small ribbon underneath the dvd-rom drive. I reconnected it and then when I went to test the ps2 I pressed the tray eject and I heard a noise of what sounded like the ps2 forcefully tying to open the tray, but it being jammed somehow. I turned it off and after I checked all the connections a second time and went to try it again I get no response at all now when I push the eject button. Anyone have any ideas?

will it come out abot 2 inches and just stop? If so its that little white plastic peice not allowing it to come out. You know the "slide Card" peice of plastic. Just simply move it over by removing the dvd besel and then use the slide card or just use a knife I had the same problem when I was modding a ps2 for a friend, When it stoped working I was like "O shit!!", I almost cried!, lol but that was a while back and I know now.

hmmm...I really dont know. Im sorry that happened to you but maybe you should try ebay for a used ps2? Sorry but I really dont know what to do...Oh maybe try taking the tray right out and putting it all back in. I had to do that when I started to get disk read errors. The reason beeing One wire was coming loose and just needed to be put back in I suppose. Well thats all I can think of, Sorry if you have to get a new tray. Good luck.

Maybe the motordriver IC and/or the corresponding fuse is blown.
Which parts that are depends on the version you have.
