blank screen.....playstation2 Scph-39006 version8 –
i did install a magic 3.6 modchip in my playstation2 version8 SCPH-39006 (GH-022 BIOS 090)........
it did work perfect ....but after some time i could not play some playstation2 games ...so i took it to a local technician and he dismentaled my ps2 and wanted to give a good service.......but after he assembled it back .....there was no display on the screen...... theres only a black screen shown in the television..... other than that every thing else works perfect ...power, eject .... and fan is alright........ its only the black screen..
do you have any ideas on how this problem eyrupted? , what the problem is..... and please let me know, what i shall do about this?
so after that i decided to remove the mod chip to check it out whether it works ........but it is still the same.......only black screen
please help out?
Short somewhere on the bios pins.
Check with magnifying glass, remove modchip and clean all the area removing any extra solder.
If this does not help bring it to a professional modder and forget the local tecnician.
how do u check whether all the pins of the bios is perfect....... willl a ohm meter help
It can help, but sometime very small short got un noticed.
Use a solder braid to remove any extra solder and a magnifing glass to check between and behind and around the bios pins and the area where you soldered.
What would happen if there is a short between bios legs? Would you always get red invalid disc/black screen? If I get that red screen sometimes would it still mean there is a short?
If you get red screen only sometimes it depends on a lot of factors.
It might be the Modchip you are using or the installation not perfect.
i did check the bios chip .....perfectly for any signs of floating legs ...... by the way all the legs of my bios chip is clean ...since i used the magic 3.6 modchip as it is a bios clip on, type......
i did find few floating legs around ....so i managed to get all the legs of the blios chip to touch the mother board using a soldering iron......but still after double checking properly ...my console has still got the blank screen.......so i decided to give it one more go....of opening the console again.......and this type i found out that some resistor or capacitor has been removed from its original location.... ....."this is located right in front of the bios chip" ...is this responsible for having a blank screen ? please let me know? must have removed while placing the bios clip of the magic 3.6 modchip....... please let me know whether it is a resistor or capacitor...also stating its value, as this will enable me to replace it........
if u don't mind ....could i have name and value of the 2 resistors or capacitors....... where i solder the "S" wire of the mod chip ...this two caps was pulled while attempting to remove the 'S' wire conection off the mother board..
awaiting for a reply
Oh well, using a bios clip with a Magic is not what i call a wise choice.
Start by removing the clip and soldering directly to the bios points.
Use any standard magic diagram, you will find a lot around.
Post a picture of the area where you belive that the component is missing and someone will post the information you need.
