    You don't burn games at 8X. 2X is the speed you should burn your backups at. PS2 lasers are crappy and if you burn them at that speed it won't read.

    I think your laser is bad. How long have you had this PS2 and do you often play it?

    I've seen a quite a few Playstations that had a partially burned lens coil and they loaded original games just fine. But in time the BA5815 or the LA6508 also burn partially due to overstress and the reading performance degrades up to the situation described in this thread, when the game is recognized only after 60 seconds from the moment the disk was inserted.

    I have gone though 3 ps2's. Every time they say it is the lens and it will cost 50 dollars to get it fixed, but the last one I got used so lets hope it lasts!
