'Modem' ???
I assume you mean that your PS2 has no Internet connection through its LAN port, in which case there is absolutely no point in using Argon. The only real advantage it has over SMS is that it can access so-called "Internet Radio stations". All the media playing abilities are simply borrowed from the SMS version (now obsolete) which Argon was built on.
So without Internet connection Argon offers nothing that a modern SMS versions can't do better.
As for expecting improvements to Argon, you can just forget about it, as its author has killed the project.
