I am looking for a tut for a v15 slim ps2 disassembly so I can put in a mod chip. Is there one here or another link for one? I've looked and can't find anything good.

I didn't ask to be questioned about my soldering ability. I've had enough experience on modchip installs and PCB soldering for computers, dremel use for cutting away IC casing for 3 wire Wii installls, 360, PSP, XBOX, etc., etc. I only wanted to see if there was a guide that shows PS2 disection beyond taking the case cover off. Are there ribbon cables that you have to look out for when removing the MB? Are there any notches or clips that need to be positioned before pulling it out or anything else on the shield?

Thanks for the video, but that is only for removing the case top. I need to see how to properly remove the shield and the mobo. Like I said, haven't seen anything on the net that addresses slim PS2s.

Here's a list of sites I found for the slimPS2:

EDIT: Here's another site I just found with some more slimPS2 disassembly instructions.

Thanks for the links. I've seen them before and they skip the shield and undercasing removal. I just hope that there aren't any cables underneath that are easily torn. It looks like Tech Republic has the most detail in their pics.

its pretty straight forward when u have the case open m8.

just disconnect all the ribbon cables.

there is the one from the dvd drive, which is brown, u need to pull up the connector on the mobo, if u want to remove the ribbon cable.

keep that in mind, u cant pull it out right away.

Thanks for the info. I looked at the pix on Tech Republic and it does say to remove the ribbon cable from the system board before pulling up.

So you are saying that the cable connector has a latch that must be lifted before pulling the ribbon out?

I am sorry if I seemed short fused in my first reply to amp2006. I see it too often though where when someone asks a question and people respond with everything but the answer to the question. For example, I recently read this thread where everyone questioned this guy's PC power or ability and wouldn't answer his question:

i understand, however, this forum is one of few ones where ppl are actualy very nive and helpful.

now... the biggest ribbon cable from the dvd drive to the mobo goes into a plug.
that 'plug' on the mobo has indeed a brown latch (i dont know all the english words yet,so forgive me) but i think its a latch :P

pull it up, and thén u can pull out the ribbon cable.

the other (white) ribbon cables are different, because u can pull them out right away.
(they have a hard plastic blue handle on them)

its just a heads up, coz i ruinied mine the first time

And that is exactly why I wanted to see a walkthrough for the slim disassembly, so I wouldn't waste $129 taking it apart. When the chip gets here I will be ready to begin. Thanks for all the help here!
