Sorry this is confusing to me, i have a slim ps2, model 700xx or something like that, I have a Gameshark 5.3 I was able to use it to copy over the Install Folder and McBoot.ELF or whatever file. I restarted my slim ps2 but only the browser and system options are there.

Edit: Forgot, i used the noobie installer zip file, so all the required files were already in the install folder.

Am i just out of luck?

I believe the only thing on PS2 that will load elfs is SwapMagic

To answer your question to my fullest extend I will start by commenting bitsbubba's statement. He is very much in the right. The only way to install FMCB via an .elf file is with codebreaker or swap magic.

Yes, there is a method of installing FMCB via the disc swapping. But that only works if your version of ar, gameshark, or whatever cheat disc is compatible with swapping.

"Compatibility" vaguely defined by how the disc drive operates when u attempt to swap or legitly insert a DVD game before swapping with a DVD backup. Gets somewhat complicated. It gets pretty muddles when u try defining compatibility between different playstation 2 models.

After reading your post, from what I can understand, you tried to copy and past the fmcb files onto your memory. That does not work because the FMCB files need to be "signed" by the system.

You can try installing FMCB with the swaptrick to see if you can get it working. PS2 Game Swap Trick

Alternatively if you cannot get it to work you can try the .elf install method with swap magic or send in your memory card to our forum's volunteer install list. (I'm not sure if that thread is still alive, but you can check it out.)

Sorry. I haven't been on this forum for awhile.
Playstation 3 hacking isn't as entertaining.
