Alt. fan point
First of all, first post, I was linked here through xbox-scene.
Ok on to the question--
I was given a PS2 that was supposedly broken. Come to find out it wasn't broken, just that the power ribbon wasn't plugged in. I was looking over the mobo and saw that one of its previous owners ripped the fan plug from the mobo, ripping the trace along with it. Keep in mind that the system still plays games and turns on normally, I just can't have it on for *too* long. I was wondering if there is another point that I could draw power from to keep the stock fan going.
(The two solder points in front of the trace are also a no go due to there being a transistor extremely close (and I can't fit the iron in there))
Model no. SCPH-35001
Thanks for any help.
Use a multimter to look for continiuty with some easier to access points to the ones you are having trouble getting at.Otherwise just look for a ground point and a 5v/12v..I'm not sure which here but I am sure someone will chime in :)
Thanks for the help.
I ended up scraping some of the blue coating and revealing some more copper on the board right beside the plug and just soldering it directly there. Works like a champ :D
