    Hi,
yesterday I bought me a Action Replay Max Evo (with USB stick).
So I started the CD, but I can“t find a Media player in the menu. How can I install MC freeboot when there is no Media player. Is this a mistake from the customer? Or is there an option how I can update my Action Replay Max Version .

    Thanks for answering

You'll have to do it with the independence day ps1 exploit like I did or if your a slimline user you'd have to go out an buy either codebreaker which can load special a sms pelican.bin file from the root of your usb stick which will then load mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF you'll have to make a save similar to the independence day ps1 exploit with savebuilder which just contains ULaunchELF as mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF or you could buy swap magic v3.8 which will load any elf from your usb stick as
    mass:/SWAPMAGIC/SMBOOT0.ELF
    mass:/SWAPMAGIC/SMBOOT1.ELF
    mass:/SWAPMAGIC/SMBOOT2.ELF
    mass:/SWAPMAGIC/SMBOOT3.ELF

I thought when a customer scribes Action Replay Max Evo there is an media player....but its wrong...
I“ll send the max evo back (warrant) . then I buy me another version with the media player.

Yeah I made the same mistake thinking the newish version would work too
did yours come with a 128mb max drive instead of the 16mb one listed on the slip cardboard cover in orange? does it say v3.60 thin ice media on the silver side of the disc near the hole as well.
Notice the different usb stick on the advertised pic

to the max drive seen in this pic that I got instead

The disc is also top half white bottom half blue. I'd get Action Replay 2 V2 instead cos you get a bonus ps1 cheat disc too.

I bought my disc at amazon. The package looks like the package on the first picture. The maxdrive usb stick has 16 MB. The disc looks very colourful and the label is different. Yesterday I shipped it back to the customer.

Now I don“t know which version of the action replay disc I needed. I know the version must have a media player otherwise I can“t install fmcb.

Does swap magic 3.6 dvd reach? Or must be 3.8? When I looked at ebay the customers didn“t scribe which version of swap magic 3 it is...

I do not want to buy again a wrong tool.

    thank you for taking time

I think both v3.8 and v3.6 can load elf's it's just v3.6 doesn't have the new gui with the coder add-on for cheat codes, v3.3 can't load elf's at all as far as I know.

Edit: I just checked V3.3 in winhex it'll load elf files but only from mc0 which makes it useless for installing fmcb.

    mc0:/SWAPMAGIC/SWAPMAGIC.ELF
    mc0:/SWAPMAGIC/SMBOOT0.ELF
    mc0:/SWAPMAGIC/SMBOOT1.ELF
    mc0:/SWAPMAGIC/SMBOOT2.ELF
    mc0:/SWAPMAGIC/SMBOOT3.ELF

Check of 3.6 so yes you can use it to install fmcb from a usb stick just like v3.8 ;-)P

    mc0:/SWAPMAGIC/SWAPMAGIC.ELF
    mass0:\SWAPMAGIC\SWAPMAGIC.ELF

    mass0:\SWAPMAGIC\SMBOOT0.ELF
    mass0:\SWAPMAGIC\SMBOOT1.ELF
    mass0:\SWAPMAGIC\SMBOOT2.ELF
    mass0:\SWAPMAGIC\SMBOOT3.ELF

    mc0:/SWAPMAGIC/SMBOOT0.ELF
    mc0:/SWAPMAGIC/SMBOOT1.ELF
    mc0:/SWAPMAGIC/SMBOOT2.ELF
    mc0:/SWAPMAGIC/SMBOOT3.ELF

@kevstah2004: Why is SM3.3 useless? You can easily load a CD-R with uLaunchElf and the FMCB installer, just use ULE to load FCMB from the cdfs, and then install!

I didn't think of that my bad
But it means taking your dvd drive to bits though to swap the disc or removing the face plate and using a slide tool which I don't advise cos the dvd or cd spins around in the disc tray when you pull it out with the slide tool scratching the disc cos it hasn't got the jewel still holding it place not to many people realize that.

    Hello kevstah2004,
I tried it, but it didn“t work.

Can you write a little tutorial for me?

I have got the version 3.60 (i hope it is the newish version)

On my usb stick (max memory) you find:

    directory: SWAPMAGIC.ELF -> SWAPMAGIC.ELF
    SWAP MAGIC 3.8 CODER EDITION.ELF

    then ulaunch 4.21
with the BOOT.ELF and uncompressed BOOT.ELF

I burned your images data on a cd.

First I put the usb stick in the ps2. then I started the ps2 with the orginal action replay disc. I waited till the ps2 is in the menu (where I can select between 4 options: expert mode, max memory, dvd region x, settings)
Now I change the disc, so that I have the burned cd in the ps2 (on my first try). I get an error message that AR max can“t read the disc, I click on ok. Then I select the max memory icon and press x. ...
Shortly I get a screen with my memory card...2 seconds later I get a screen with the setences that I should insert a right playstation 2 disc.... I have to restart the ps2...

    On my second try:
I tried to change the disc when the ps2 loads the max memory menu (this is the point where you can see the yellow bar)... if i do that, the menu stops to load... so that I have to restart the ps2 or insert there orginal AR disc...

    Where is my mistake?

When I looks on the usb stick in the max memory menu, there stands that no data is on the usb stick (on the computer I see the data...)

    Thanks kevstah2004 for your work.
