    While trying to find out if it was Gap Or no Gap, I think I might have broken something. On the 36 pin ribbon cable, I didn't break the cable but the little brown piece that holds it in. what I need is what is the brown piece called and can I buy any of them anywhere. Thank You.

    what does it hold, the controller cable??..i have alot of spare connectors, i just don't take the time to count the # of pins under em

    i know what he is talking about, its the thick ribbon cable going into the controller ports, there is that brown piece that flips up and clamps the ribbon in place. As long as you still have the brown piece, you can still use it. I broke the "hinge" aspect of it the first time I opened my PS2 but I can still fit it in correctly. You just have to play with it a little.
