I've been looking for some 2 player co-op non-network games for the PS2. My wife and I play lots of games on the computer, but we don't really have any we can play together on the PS2. In versus games (like most fighting games) she normally beats the mess out of me, so they're not fun for long. We enjoy pretty much all genres of games. Any recommendations?

I used to play Hunter: The Reckoning on Gamecube, with my brother. A great Coop game, and after checking out a lot of PS2 reviews and such lately, I noticed this game is also available for this system.

And of course there are multiple Fighting games and I believe a good percentage of Racing games also have split screen gameplay.

    :>

The Warriors is a really good beat 'em up featuring co-op, and all the LEGO games are good and have it as well. I also would love some good co-op suggestions since my girlfriend has recently gotten into gaming.

I remember i played Champions of Norrath together with a friend a lot.
    Nice graphics and gameplay.

You also could play SNES-Station on the PS2 (Super Bomberman with 4 players
is real fun, or maybe Buble Boble).

Last time I tried SNES-Station or any other SNES emu it had major lag. Is that still the case?

You are lucky that i asked myself the same question not long ago...

Most racing & fighting games do feature 2-player modes, but mainly versus modes, so i won't list any of them... True coop games are the following:

    Action-Adventure
    - LEGO Indiana Jones/Star Wars I&II/Batman (childish look, but coop gameplay at its best)
    - 007 Everything or Nothing
    - Destroy all Humans 2
    - Ico (you may have to do one playthrough to unlock the coop mode)

    First-Person-Shooters
    - Darkwatch
    - Timesplitters 2
    - Timesplitters Future Perfect
(I can't recommend the Timesplitters series enough...)
    - Half-Life (Decay)

    Shoot 'em Up
    - Metal Slug Anthology
    - The Red Star

    Sports
    - Pro Evolution Soccer

    Car Combat
    - Twisted Metal Head-On

    Action-Role-Playing (more precisely: Diablo-Clones )
    - Champions Return to Arms
(This is most probably the best of all Diablo Clones on PS2. More or less the same: Champions of Norrath, Baldurs Gate 1 & 2)
    - Justice League Heroes (same developer & game engine, different setting)
    - Fallout Brotherhood of Steel

    3D Platformer
    - Ratchet Deadlocked

    Puzzle
    - The Adventures of Cookie & Cream (again: extremly childish look, but coop gameplay at its best)

Numerous classic 2D games in compilations
    - Capcom classics
    - Sega Genesis Collection
    - SNK Arcade Classics
    - Midway Arcade Classics
    ...

I recommend using youtube for gameplay videos

    Best regards

Unfortunately yes, it's still the same as before.
But there is a glimpse of hope due to the great work from ragnarok2040.

    Take a look here:
    http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58208 (Snes9x for ps2)

I guess, that the day will come when the new Emu will be much better than SNES-Station
