Hey, so I am a complete noob when it comes to modifying PlayStation 2 consoles. I'm trying to mod it so I can play ps2 backup discs. I've looked for tutorials but some of the terminology just makes no sense to me. I'm kind of hopeless when it comes to this stuff. If possible, could someone post the tutorial(s) I need or possibly a page that defines all the terminology?

Here's my console's specs (to the best of my knowledge of what matters):
    -It's a PS2 Slim
    -Model NO. SCPH-75001
    -NTSC U/C (If this matters?)

    Here's a photo of it

Your help would be much appreciated, thank you

you can send your MC to one of the free installer here in Forum so you dont need to do anything.....

http://psx-scene.com/forums/f153/%5B...mcb-you-58851/ ([READ FIRST POST!][Free Service!]I can install fmcb for you!)

Otherwise first you must make sensor-blog that you can swap cd (you needed to manage it)

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mr9kpn7nxh0&feature=related]YouTube - ‪Easiest PS2 slim sensor mod.‬‏[/ame]

There are lot of videos in youtube (just search for "ps2 sensor-mod").....

And at last here you find all steps and packs you need to manage it....

    Free McBoot Home

The question is how you want to manage to install FMCB in your MC (with swap-magic-retail-cd, Agent under Fire-retail,....)
So you must have some of the needed retail-cd´s or a mod-chip.

Go to the link and under "installation" you can select what you want to use to make it.

And under "User-Guides" you find the "noobie-package" and some tuts too....

This is great, thank you very much!
I only have one more question: Are there certain versions or something I need to be worried about with purchasing a Swap Magic disk?
Here's the one I'm looking at, will it be compatible with my console?

    Thank you again

Since that SM disc set is a US version it should be compatible to your PS2.
But I don't recognize that version of it.

It is called "Swap Magic plus" but they also say it's v3.8, and I was not aware of any other v3.8 than the one called "Swap Magic coder". But possibly this is a budget release without the cheat code engine.

As long as the SwapMagic parts really are v3.8 (anything later than v3.3) it should do what you need just fine. It is the older versions like v3.3 or older that are unable to boot elfs from USB drives, making them less suitable for FMCB installs. (Still possible, though you'd have to boot an elf with a burned disc then.)

    Best regards: dlanor
