since there is not much left to do in PS3 I'm thinking of jailbreaking my Wii and I'm looking for a good tutorial.

so far I have found this: Wii.DS-Scene - View Topic: Tutorial: how to hack your Wii (4.2 U, E, J) - Using a soft mod

is that the right way to do it? mine is on v4.0 E does it mean I have to officially update it first?

u dont have to update it will only make thing harder for u
just use bannerbomb (google it) to softmod your wii
    it piece of cake
u also gonna need to install a cios rev but that is for later use

PS: u dont have to update a wii to enjoy online gaming
    PS3 Slim 250GB Kmeaw 3.55
Wii white 4.3 Dont know the CIOS rev anymore
    DSi R4i-SDHC

    if yelow was white
    black wil be yelow.
    you know what im saying

thanks for the replies. still it seems a bit overwhelming, there are so many names and various ways to do it. I want to make sure to do it right the first time and never have to mess with it again.

Is it possible to do it just with USB?
currently what is the best thing to use? (like in PS3 kmeaw & MultiMan are the standard right now)

You can simply go to google, punch in "bannerbomb" and the first result should be what you're after. Toss the files onto an SD, pop it in, and try to "load channels from SD"

A popup should display, confirm it, and you're off and running!

Do you happen to own or have access to any of the lego games, supersmash brothers brawl or yugioh, depending on your region. You can update to 4.3 without difficulty and use any of the games i mentioned to enable homebrew on your wii,for a simple method use HERE
I still use cios rev17 instead of the 1 suggested in the guide, hermes loader is essential,if you do it online you will be up and running in about 45 minutes start to finish including update, good luck and if you need help let me know

I personally have a wii that I have modified myself.. Well worth doing , but the problem is that there is sooo many different ways to accomplish this . If done incorrectly it can cause what is called semi-bricks , with means the wii will freeze wail tiring to access certain sectors or system files. Even worse is a full brick witch really sucks.. so be carefull.. and about a websight for wii modification I would recommend the forum WIISO (google it) . I will also link a guide to a pm .
