hi
nothing really big but i played around a bit with the directory of the psx game with the filebrowser of MM
i was hoping the you could start the game by activating the game id exe like in the old playstion days but no
but i did found out that you can activate the systemcnf file of the psx game and that starts up the screen in MM that says:
will exit to xmb you can start the game by clicking the ps2 icon if you click yes it will not exit to xmb but start the to psx game
i also extrated a psx game to usb stick(not that easy lots of error messages)
you can also actived the systemcnf file on a usb stick but is you have no psx disk in the drive
it will only give a black screen
with a psx disc in drive it will start the psx game in drive
it was a stupid experiment because the systemcnf file somehow give the command that starts the ps1emu
and the ps1emu looks by default in the disk drive for the game
but it does show a promise of being able to play psx games from a ex hdd
we probably have to do something the same as with the ps3 games
we somehow have to trick the ps3 ps1emu in thinking its starting a game in disc drive while it starts from the ex hdd
it doesnt seem impossibly
but i dont know anything about coding so this could be just a big patch of cow dung

i m not going to change to regug cfw to test this maybe someone could do that
i did test something else
i extracted the psx games in its own directory and named it after the psx game id and put that directory in a Games directory on the usb stick
you know usb:\Games\psx game
multiman scans the Games directory for games
when i started MM it saw the psx game on the usb stick and listed it as name of the directory it was in on the side there was a ps2 logo displayed
next step was to test of it would run the game from the usb stick
i started the psx game without any psx disc in drive a message popup saying loading game disc and then only black screen so no go
i started the psx game with psx disc in drive message popup saying loading game disc again black screen but second time message popup saying loading gamedisc
and psx game in drive started up
only a conflict must have happend because the loading gamedisc screen did not go away and psx game could be seen in the back
also the controller did not respond and when you pushed the ps3 home button the xmb screen did not show up
only the psx sub menu showed but with only 4 option no memorycard, reset game or other setting options
i had hoped by putting the psx game in the Games directory that it would use the bdemu option like the ps3 games and startup from the usb but no
there must be a difference in startup between ps3 and psx games
i still think its possible to start psx games from a ext hdd but it will need a dev programmer
probably changes will be need making in MM and also in the bdemu for it to work
time will tell

In fact that was a good idea you tested. It's always good to see people experimenting other options and ideas. Since nobody else is doing it. I got some ideas up my sleeve as well. You say it showed a "ps2" logo?...that is very interesting.

it showed up on the side menu of of multiman not on the main menu
but if you use the filebrowers of multiman you see that psx disc show up as ps2 and ps2 disc show up as bd like the ps3 games
its a little bit weird
