The general consensus seems to be if you want discless compatibility go with 3.41. I recommend Hermes 3.41. Works like a charm, very few games require disc. 3.55 I hear most games do require a disc so I would say 3.41 is definitely the safest choice for those with faulty blue-ray drives.

I was in this situation for a while and I didn't run into any compatibility issues using Gaia Manager on 3.55 Kmeaw with the 10 or so games I tried, including GT5, FF XIII and Dead Space 2. The only downside is that games like Dead Space 2 that appear as two discs in the XMB (one containing Extraction in this case) don't behave in this way when running under APP_HOME.

My PS3 will eject disks just fine (thank God), its reading the disks thats the problem! I have to put the disk in and eject it 9 or 10 times for it to read! Once it reads, i can turn the system off, reset, etc…and it will work as long as its not removed

Is there any safe way to downgrade to 3.41 from kmeaw 3.55 without any jailbreak usb?

You can downgrade only with a dongle that supports this feature
    The route would be 3.55 Kmeaw - 3.55 OFW - downgrade to 3.41 modified PUP - 3.41 OFW - 3.41 CFW .Don't downgrade from 3.55 on a slim , you will brick !

I don't have any dongle at the moment. My ps3 is 40gb fat so there is no worry about bricking it.

So, there is no way to play any game if you don't downgrade or fix the bluray?

At the moment I tried (red dead redemption, red dead redemption undead nightmare, gt5, f1 2010) and the only game that works fine with all the loaders and without any special trick is F1 2010.

GT5 requests 516mb free spaces (I have more than 10gb), red dead gives me always the same error 80010009.

I tried several pkg and eboot files with several methods I found searching, especially for RDR, but again I am getting black screen, or return to xmb or error 80010009.

I already try your method but no difference. Is there any special trick to test? I press the eject button and when it starts to blink I press X to run the game... After 2-3 sec back to xmb or error 80010009.

My board I think it's ok because I update to 3.55 kmeaw without any problems and I read that if you have dead drive board you are unable to update.

I try with latest l2 then I run Fix perditions and then rogue 7.9c. Also I try multiman and gaia manager.

I press it as I already told you... Then after a blink sound and the motors sound of the eject mechanism it starts to blink and I release it and immediately I press X button but after 2-3 sec of black screen game goes back to xmb.
