Streamed PS3 Games using PS3NetSrv - cover and background art issues
Streamed PS3 Games using PS3NetSrv - cover and background art issues –

Hey Dean and everyone...
I recently bought the Cobra USB for streaming purposes, and I have to say streaming PS3 isos work like a charm! I am absolutely loving it...
Now here are my questions;
Usually when MM finds a game, either on internal or external, the icon, disc cover and background art is fetched from the game directory or downloaded and shown in the game list.... MM doesn't seem to do that when streaming isos over the Network... It updates the icon when a game is first mounted, and MM shows that fine afterwards, but still no cover or background art.
I found where on HDD0 MM saves these icons, but is there any way to extract the background art and have MM show it, and download the game cover as well for streamed isos?
Also, I was wondering if there was any way in the retro column to group PSX, PS2 and PSP isos in their own categories? (example: Retro -> PS2 -> Vandal Hearts or Retro -> PSX -> Suikoden)
I guess this is mostly meant for Dean, but if anyone have an answer, I'd be eternally grateful.
Thanks in advance, guys!
Best regards,
Phreon

Wait what, you can stream ps3 games? I never heard of such sorcery, that's not even listed on cobra usb features last time I checked. Do the games play relatively lag free over a good wireless connection say 20 mbps+ and is it just games on your pc or do they have some kind of streaming server?

Hey Griff...
The games are located in iso format on a SAN server I have running, and DeanK's PS3NetSrv is installed as a service on my Windows server... In that configuration, the PS3 can connect to my Win server and load the games directly from the SAN and it runs flawlessly - I have to admit though, I'm running on wired gbit Ethernet, I haven't tried Wireless so I don't know how performance would be.... Wired runs perfectly, no lag, choppiness, extended loading times, etc.
No worrying about external/internal drives, 4GB filesize limit, etc - it's just heaven .... apart from those minor flaws I ran into regarding cover and background art

I have been wondering the same thing for a long time too! I enjoy your cobra-usb dongle tremendously, especially since your latest FW release bringing it to 4.30.
I have all my games in ISO format thanks to gen******_v2.0, and I play them all over the network thanks to ps3netsrv.
I never get the icons and cover art in MMCM though.. this only works for games that are not in ISO format. If there was a way to fetch the icons from inside the ISOs that would be fantastic.
I also wish there was some caching done in MMCM because every time I go back inside MMCM it takes a long time to scan for all the games.
So far every game I've tried in ISO format has worked on 4.30! Even the very latest games.. that's so awesome!
I was wondering.. do any games NOT work when using the ISO method over the network share using ps3netsrv?
Also.. could anyone tell me if it's ok to install ALL game updates if running on 4.30 CFW from cobra? Can I install all game-updates?
Thanks!!
