Are PSX backups from .bin+.cue/.ccd+.sub+.img in the works with future multiman? –
Hey multiman already has PSX booting from burned disk backups but does anyone know if _PSX virtual disk mounting_ from .bin+.cue or .ccd+.sub+.img images from internal or external hard drive is in the works? Something like a mini daemon tools so you could play your PSX backups without the wear and tear on the internal PS3 laser drive. I read lots of stories of PS3 lasers dying from excessive use so the ability to mount PSX games from .bin+.cue or .ccd+.sub+.img images from internal/external HDD would be great new feature. A small disk mounting driver like the one used in PSX emulators would be a great addition. Also it would help eliminate the problems with unreliable CD media/drives.
I have also been curious about this. Also I know that multiman can make a backup of a psx disc which I haven't figured out yet. I tried burning Ehrgeiz with clonecd set at 8x but it didn't read as a valid PSX disc (the copy function didn't show up but the psx disc did). I don't want to burn a bunch of discs just to put on my internal hard drive and basically have a bunch of coasters laying around. Does anyone know of the file structure and if I have to put ISO files there, or if I have to extract them to a specific folder for each game. Also after I put a game on there, would I have to find icons for the games or has deank integrated cover image support like there is with PS3 backups
If you want PS1 backups from HDD, you'll have to buy Cobra USB. If you want some newer games to work, you have to buy True Blue. If you want something like gameshark or codebreaker, you'll have to buy PS3UserCheats. If you want to downgrade, you'll have to buy a Progskeet or an E3 Flasher.
Welcome to the free* scene.
I doubt we'll see this feature anytime soon. You see, it's a feature of a dongle. We wouldn't even have PSX backups from disc working except that some random dude was playing around and tried something incredibly obvious that anyone seriously looking should have found ages ago. It was luck. Dongle makers have money to shut people up, bribing them in to silence. People that know what they're doing are either smart enough to know how to turn it in to money, or don't give a crap about anything in the scene. Though, in this instance, I think that deank just isn't looking. He's great at immediately integrating new features, but I think he may actually have a life outside his computer.
Well PSX virtual disk mounting is a highly requested new feature that multiman is missing. The coding work seem to be minimal as virtual disk mounting is a feature that open source PSX emulators have. Someone with aptitude could simply use those examples as a proof of concept. I don't know if deank or any other developer have looked into this as it seems to be relatively easy to add. After all multiman is a backup manager so this seems to be the next step.
That seems to be a lot of money to bribe every potential developer. Besides allowing any company to take ownership of a potential addon feature seems to be a mistake. These companies also benefit from the work done by the 'free' community so it works both ways. This is strictly a question of PSX mounting not any other addon feature like PS2,DVD,codes,cheats,Blu-ray etc...
