multiman vs 1TB WD Scorpio Blue - 1:0 ;(
I've received a brand new WD Scorpio Blue WD10JPVT (2.5'', 1TB, SATA/300). Formatted it using Rogero 4.30 v2.03. Worked like a charm for 3 days...
I copied over 700GB via ftp and usb without any problems but then...
yesterday (during ftp/usb copy) my ps3 has frozen - black screen.
OK hard reset helped, but only 10 times...
Then I got YLOD. But I had my old original 120G HDD so after a quick switch everything went back normal again. So again a switch to WD (the broken one) drive and It was working again But only for an hour.... ;(
PS3 shows a message that there is a problem with mass storage.
With my Lenovo laptop via eSata connector everything freezes.
I cant even start the bios to reformat it.
so the question is what happened
1. The HDD was fried in PS3 'coz of extensive nonstop usage - 700GB copied in a row - maybe next time I should limit the transfer rate to lets say 5MB/s?
2. Multiman does something really bad to big hard drives during copy. I've noticed that a games with over 8k files (NeedForSpeed or Naughtybear) have some performance issues during copy via multiman. Even small files are copied really slow especially at the end.
3. It was a faulty ps3 unit? well it works with original 120gb
4. Faulty hdd.
Tomorrow I''ll get a new one as a replacement but I don't want to break it instantly.
