multiMAN Update Questions
multiMAN Update Questions –
07-19-2011,10:15 AM
Hey fellas, gonna apologize for my n00bness, I'm experienced with Wii, and 360 setups, just broke ground on my ps3 this weekend. I have everything setup and working great, I went to the "update" feature in multiMAN to download the latest version, it looked like it installed fine, but now I'm getting a message that says I need to install the Full, or Base pkg. I downloaded the full pkg, I can copy "multiMAN ver 02.03.00 FULL (20110717-170000).pkg" to my flash drive and plug it in. My questions are:
From the xmb, do I just launch that from my pkg folder to install the "full" version?
Will that overwrite the current version of mM that I have installed?
Is that all I need to do? If so, will it break anything or...just work perfectly? lol
I'm trying to get rid of this error message without messing something up. If anybody can give me a quick pointer I'd really appreciate it, thanks guys!

weirdly, this happened to me yesterday. bt then I downloaded the base version and just ran the package from the 'install pkg files' in the xmb. it replaced the current version bt all my data was there (covers, games, settings ....).

yea, the way it usually happens with updates (at least via online method) is that it will store the update pkg on either your usb device (if one is inserted) or in a dir on the local HDD, from which you will then install it via the XMB package manager.
You can tell when it has been overwritten with a new ver when you next launch MM and it re-displays the 3 page disclaimer (EULA, lol)

haha, lol. EULA, huh? I like that. to tell ya the truth I always read those three "EULA" pages, I love them very much.

Each time I use the update method from inside my ps3, I get uncompleted install telling me to install full pkg... yet I started with a full package and just did the update option...
?

But are you 100% sure that you installed a full pkg of the correct version ?
I believe the latest one is v02.03.00, and it contains tons of major changes relative to most earlier versions.
Using an older full pkg will not allow you to update to the latest WIP version online.
