What game were you using when it made you update?

pangxie, I suggest you to check out whether "install package files" and "APP_Home/PS3_Game" options are still present into XMB. If not - too bad, you've updated your system, and the only way back for you is progskeet/eflasher.
But if they still exist - delete installed game data and reinstall multiMAN - it should fix the issue.

Game patches are unrelated to system patches - 2 different animals. Delete the game data for the game, delete multiman and reinstall from the pkg manager. Use multiman to check for game updates. Don't let the game disc check for updates. Multiman will only download game updates that are compatible. If Multiman tells you there's no updates, but the game does when you launch it, then it will screw you up to install those updates. Hope that made sense at 5 AM

I know that, but after you install such patch, the game could ask you to update your FW as well. They are different, but comes along)

He said he installed a game update. Most online games ask you to update your firmware anyway with or without a game patch so it is unrelated. If he did accidentally do a system update, then he's probably SOL without a flasher like you said. Easiest way to check that is go in your system settings and check your system version. You may have to turn off any spoofer you have but that's a sure fire test

Game discs do not contain system firmwares. And if it did, you would have been prompted 2 times to accept the system firmware update.

Can you play any other games?
Just delete the update you installed from your XMB under Game Data.
