Anyone care to elaborate how this feature works. I asked in the multiman thread and they keep saying look it up and I haven't found anything useful I take it has something to do with re-directing game files.

Lol Im with you on this one. That thread is all over the place and every time I've tried to ask about it it didn't end up well. It seems like people in that thread use a different method of backing up and playing the games, but I can't look through 200 pages to piece together how to do it. Any info would be appreciated.

But as far as a shadow copy goes, a shadow copy is just a link to another file. So you dont have to actually move files around. Basically, if you have a file in folder hdd0/games/blabla, and you want to have a copy of those files at hdd0/test, then you can just make a shadow copy of blabla, that way any time the ps3 asks for hdd0/test, that folder is actually redirecting the ps3 to the blabla folder. Simple terms, if 'shadowA' points to 'fileB', then any time the ps3 asks for 'shadowA', it will be redirected to 'fileB', which saves one from having to take up space copying the actual file because the shadow only takes up a couple kilobytes if that

So you think one can just leave the USRDIR folder in a usb drive and just shadow it to the folder pointed at on a modified eboot? That way we dont waste space on the internal... kind of running low there hahaha

Sorry to resurrect this 3 month old thread, but can someone please confirm if you can create a shadow copy of a game stored on a external usb hard drive to the ps3 internal hard drive? Everytime I try to press R3 in the file manager mode in multiman on a PS3_Game folder on my usb hard drive, it asks something about wanting to emulate the usb drive as a Bluray drive or something.

I was under the impression that Shadow Copy is only for files on the same physical drive.

for example...have everything from a killzone 3 download on my external except for the psarc so when i load the game off external it looks for the psarc on the internal instead???
