Well, now many sites have this front paged "NTFS is here" blalbla. But i can really understand, in the changes it says "only copy from NTFS to fat, nothing more" but still psx-scene frontpaged it as you had full NTFS support(play from NTFS).
Can somebody just answer this, can you play games from NTFS?
" * NTFS support for external USB HDD (START+/\ to switch to NTFS driver)
* USB.CFG configuration file edit required: 0xVNID:0xPRID:V (vendor ID, product ID, V=number of volumes) "
Can somebody explain all this, i dont understand a thing what it does?
Thanks!

We can copy from an original PS3 game disc to HDD.
But we can not copy from any other bluray disc type, such as bluray movies...
(Or generic BDROM data discs.)
For PS3 game discs it is already implemented in the File Manager section of multiMAN,
and for other disc types it remains impossible, as the BD drive firmware will not allow us to read them.
Only custom firmware changes have the potential of changing that, by reading the disc in a way similar to how the PS3 bluray movie player does it, but no existing custom firmware has managed to implement such disc access for homebrews.

Thanks you . per explains. from what I understand is something more specific. only custom firmware can implement

You cannot play from NTFS. All you can do is mount the External NTFS in Multiman to copy from that onto you internal PS3 so that you can then play them. For me this is good as it means I dont have to FTP across from PC but rather just copy the games by plugging NTFS HD into the PS3.
In order to mount your NTFS you need to get the Vendor and Product ID and edit the USB.CFG file then copy it into /devhdd0/game/bles80608/usrdir then once you plug your NTFS USB in do START+/\ to mount.
There are better instructions and replies to this thread that tell you how than my explanation though.

So basically if you've got a spare NTFS external about it might come in handy, otherwise just use a large file splitter, copy it to your FAT32 external and then transfer it with multiman to the ps3 internal.
Until NTFS is implemented in a CFW its not going to be a working solution is it.

I've not used the file splitter and because of the number and type of Harddrives I have this works for me. My PS3 after game installs and all the essentials only has 47gb free for internally installed games.
I am hoping that this NTFS mounting stuff is one step closer to NTFS loading to work though I guess also it might not.

PS button, controller buttons etc all frozen until I do a power button power down and on again.
The hard drive has a small 2 gig FAT partition and a larger 498gig NTFS and I am setting the number of volumes to 2 in USB.CFG (though I have tried it as 1 as well) but still it hangs.
Any help will be appreciated.
Is the NTFS partition primary? maybe this is the problem (for example, in a Wii the WBFS partition has to be primary.)
Bobajob: thanks for your info, as many here I thought "wow NTFS loading possible" ! But now I know the only thing possible is transfering! Good work as always Deank!
