Installed the new multiman this morning and everything worked fine as usual. But When i tried to load gran turismo 5 from internal it froze when reaching the screen for the GT5 logo. Hard drive access indicator stopped flashing and nothing happened. I was still able to quit to xmb but it repeated the same problem when i tried again (on an 80gb Fat and 250gb slim, Same problem).
But anyway i managed to fix the problem by deleting the game backup (not the game data or save) and recopying to internal from an external backup.
Any idea why this could have happened and do you think Im going to have to do this with any other games? Have a fairly long list of them and i dont wanna test all. Anyone else experienced it

Multiman noob here w/ a couple Q's:
- What is Lastgame.pkg?
- what is ps3serv?
- Is Eboot fix now useless w/ the recent versions of MM? - I ask because I was able to run LBP 2 w/o doing anything special

Not possible right?
It is possible, since the redirection is done by the software code in the "payload" or the syscall function.

Is it not then also possible to use a similar method to install syscall8 and/or syscall35 implementations of your own, for handling the redirection of AVCHD playback from HDD ? (naturally this feature can also be enabled/disabled from the ".ini" file for compatibility to other firmwares and patch methods)
That would also be an acceptable solution, except that you have repeatedly told us that in CFW 3.55 the latest multiMAN versions ignore the ".ini" command to control payload loading, and insist on always using the internal syscall36. This means that we would have conflicting usage of the same 'hook', probably resulting in crashes again like it did with 01.13.01. (That version could play AVCHD but could do nothing else reliably in CFW 3.55...)
So the big question here is if multiMAN 01.14.00 will obey us when we tell it (through the ".ini") to stop using its own syscall36. (Contrary to what you have told us recently.) I'll have to try it myself of course, and I hope you have restored this functionality already. Else that is something to remember for next release.
I also realize that as long as I make no attempt to use a backup game, I can of course use the lv2.pkg patcher as I please, as only backup 'mount' usage would cause syscall36 conflict, so I have tested that I can use this external patcher (lv2-v6.pkg) before starting AVCHD playback, which then works properly. But then I may have to remember to restart the PS3 before using any backup games, to get rid of the external patcher and avoid the redirection conflicts. (unless we can disable the internal syscall36 usage)
Yep, that is a very serious problem, since the majority of games have considerable updates after original release, and nobody wants to play with an obsolete version. In some cases it is not even possible, since some games will work from HDD only after such updates (such as Disgaea3).
1) multiMAN DOES check everything on startup. It checks for HERMES then for PL3, it checks for POKE support and finally it checks for syscall36 and then installs the new code. So if it finds that you've enabled some kind of patcher/syscall - it will not load the built-in syscall36.
About the ebootFIX method: yes - some games have updates but isn't it better at least to be ABLE to play the game (even not updated)? Like Prince of Persia or some other games which you can't launch from a backup folder?

I posted a [PL3] test version on the efnet irc #multiMAN channel. It enables built-in PL3 (with syscall35), which means aVCHD from internal hdd + /app_home.
Any testers welcome. I need to know how stable it is and if it locks as often as kmeaw's lv2 patcher.

GT5 is a game which have files > 4GB , it will have the > 4GB files split into smaller files to fit on a FAT32 drive (external HDD) and when you have copied it back to internal , Multiman will join these parts for you and your game will work fine. Any game with files > 4Gb will freeze when loaded from external drive where the files are still split, that's why the manager marks these titles with an "_" before the game's title and it won't let you play these games from external drive unless you have manually renamed the game's folder ( removed the leading "_" ) or you have it downloaded without the "_" on the folder name.
That's not a Multiman problem, rather a user's miss-use
Cheers
