I can't find a single reason to how this would work without patching, if all it's doing is calling sys_game_process_exitspawn2, theres no "magic" in this call, it's been used for testing homebrew since the beginning of ps3 homebrew.
This will only be usefull for running games that support direct boot.

No, it doesn’t require any game EBOOT.BIN modifications. The original, untouched, signed, encrypted game EBOOT.BIN is used.
when you run the MAGIC APP from the XMB that then executes the games original MM_EBOOT.BIN, what tells it to not look in BDVD but instead to hdd0 for the game files..?
