05-07-2011,11:41 AM
I just checked Multiman updates and I am getting a message that Multiman 2 is available and do I want to download it. When I click YES I get a message almost immediately that the download has succeeded but nothing has been downloaded. Any ideas whats going on here?

Maybe what you downloaded is just the text file that shows the actual links to the whole package.

What's new in Multiman 2?
Heard that it can split 4GB+ games.

Possibly your current multiMAN version is too old to allow the internal networked update to work properly. In that case simply download a 'BASE' or 'FULL' install package from the main thread, place it on a USB drive, and then install it manually through the XMB, just like you did when installing multiMAN the first time.
And if your previous multiMAN version was very old you may also need to download the BDEMU2.rar archive and install one of the two PKG files it contains. (Which one depends on your PS3 firmware.)

Most versions of multiMAN have had the ability to split the games for backup purposes.
The new feature of recent versions is (if I got it all right) that it is now also able to access such a backup as-is for gameplay, though that is then done by caching a merged version of each split file to the internal HDD, and then redirecting file access for that file of the game so as to use the cached file on internal HDD, even though the remainder of the files are still read from the external drive.
As I understand it this ability was not possible to implement before, due to limitations of the old 'payload', which limitations are now eliminated thanks to the new BDEMU2 payload.
