Would it be possible for multiMAN to eventually support PS2 games for the generations of consoles that dont have any support for the games? I have a 40gb and really want to play PS2games on it.

Nobody really knows. There are some that say the PS3 just isn't powerful enough to emulate a PS2. I've also heard thap PS2 games from PSN are little more than repackaged ISOs of the original disc.

No... I have a pc from 2004 with very similar specs to a ps3. It cannot emulate ps2 games at full speed. The reason the older 20 and 60 gb models could run ps2 games was because they actually had ps2 chips in them. There is a way to play ps2 games on non backwards compatible ps3s, but the performance? Straight dooky.

I go along with indirect, the PS2 ports pretty much look and run exactly like they do on BC consoles. I've played San Andreas on my old 40 gig, then downloaded it from PSN, and they're identical. I haven't pulled apart both versions and looked, but it's visually obvious a lot of work wasn't done to it.

Yeah the ps2 ports are the same as the original but to get them to run they had to rework them for the ps3. What's the process? Idk, but it obviously takes time, sonys tools and dev skill. If it was simple don't you think they'd have ps2 games being pumped out left and right?

My point wasn't that the PS2 games from PSN look the same as the originals. What I've heard is that they ARE the same. The ISOs are identical, meaning there is emulation happening.

I'm PMing the member I heard this from to get some verification...

Not necessarily, there's money issues in many games. Just because it's fine to make a PS2 game, doesn't mean Sony has the rights to just remake any game on their library to be re-sold on the PS3.

You cant really compare it like that, because your not running the same emulator.

You cant run the ps2 emulator from the PC on the ps3 and you cant run the ps3's ps2classic emulator on a pc.

You your not doing a proper comparison.

A remastered PS2 game like RE4 yes.. A untouched game like GTA: SA no..
Just like a NES emulator you just need the game file (ROM).

No they arent going to put out games left and right this has been proven with PS1 games on PSP and PS3 and VITA. they believe if you just throw a huge library out there people will just buy a few favs and thats it. However they feel if you keep them waiting they will buy up titles they normally wouldn't be big sellers.

Yes, and Iris and Multiman can also play PS1 ISOs. You still need a old fat PS3 to play PS2 ISOs.
