So i installed multiMAN ver 02.05.03 UPDATE POC WAVE (20110905-143300) then multiMAN ver 02.05.04 UPDATE (20110906-140200). Overwrote wave.divx in MM's install folder and got DSC00019.3GP (which im not even sure if I need).

I press select and triangle at XMMB and the background seems to change, but I dont know where to put a video for it to detect and what format it has to be, basically I need instructions on how to make a background video play in the new MM (I know its beta) because I couldn't find any.

(And yes i already had 2.05 FULL MM installed beforehand).

From the look of the previous file that you overwrote it probably needs to be converted to .divx file.

What? That file was already there came with multiman, then I was instructed via ps3hax where dean posts his new stuff now to download wav.divx, i put in multiman folder and it was same size as other that was already there. Just need instruct on what file MM is using for video for background menu, where it's supposed to be located and if it has to be .divx only.

He released the update with the wave.divx and then he released two versions of the file wave.divx, one with the wave just black and another with a blue looping wave for you to choose from. If you already have the wave.divx on your multiMAN just press Select+ Triangle and it will start. If you wanna create your own file, just convert any video to divx (up to 720p works best), rename it wave.divx and replace it for the one on /dev_hdd0/game/BLES80608/USRDIR/

    Regards

Thanks kgb exactly the answer I was looking for, so I guess I did it right all along, yeah I saw the blue looping wave.
(It's just like changing the background music but instead of SOUND.BIN its wave.divx figured that but wasnt 100%)

For best results use AVI container for Divx/XviD video (any resolution) @ 23.976fps with MP3 audio. If there is no audio track - it won't work. Also it requires a lot of memory (~40MB of free RAM) so check system settings if you have at least 80MB free before proceeding.
