How to transfer game with split fles without using external USB HDD

I have a backup of "Tekken 6" on my comp that I need to get onto my external HDD, which is FAT32. I used to use "PS Split" to perform this task. Worked really well, and was compatable with multiMAN . Isn't "PS SPlit" a DeanK creation ? Anywho....my Windows tower has since shit the bed and I've been using my tower loaded with Linux Mint...My question is two part :


1. Do you know if there is a file splitting program that runs on Linux Mint that is compatable with multiMAN?

I have an 8 gig flash drive...Could I transfer all the files to my external EXCEPT the 4gig + file, then format my flash drive to NTFS..Move the 4 gig+ file to flash drive..THEN xfer to multiMAN using NTFS drivers in the file manager? (I've never messed with this before, so I dont know how or if it works)

Seriously tho man, you are my hero. Hey also, when will the new build of Showtime be integrated into MM? I love having the two, but hate having to launch from XMB to use the most recent version.

Your second idea will work, but you will have to make a ubs config file and know where to put it on your ps3.

Sweet.......Now the obvious : How is this done?

NTFS drive are used to transfer files over to the system it won't let you play 4+GB games off it.

Playing from a flash drive isnt my goal...transferring the files to my internal HDD is what I'm after.

The NTFS drivers probably won't work for usb stick. If you don't have a big enough USB HDD to transfer the split files, then your only option is to copy the whole game to a temporary folder.

For example

/dev_hdd0/Tekken_TEMP/PS3_GAME/

1) Recreate the folder structure and copy the whole game there with the split files (transfer one by one if your stick is not big enough).
2) Then COPY this Tekken_TEMP folder to your games folder /dev_hdd0/GAMES

During 2) multiMAN will merge the split files. After copy completes - delete the temp folder.

What Dean said is of course the best way to do it using only the equipment mentioned.

But if a PC is available with ability to connect its LAN to the PS3, my own preference would be to first prepare the game folder (in its final form) on an HDD of that PC, and then share the folder containing this game folder through the HOST server Dean made. This will allow you to copy the new game folder into your game collection folder on the PS3 using the File Manager of multiMAN, without any filesize restrictions (as long as you have enough space on the HDD of course :)).

NB: Before using the HOST transfer method you may need to edit an "options_default.ini" file that you place on your USB drive, in order to tell multiMAN how to contact the HOST server. The distributed "options_default.ini" file already contains comments showing how to add new such server definitions.

And in the distribution archive "multiMAN ver 02.03.00 FULL (20110717-170000).rar" the HOST server (for Windows) is included as the sub-archive "ps3serv_GUI.rar".

Well, if network is available then FTP would be the easiest way to transfer the game without splitting the big files, and of course nethost. :)
