Just upgraded to multiman 04.09.00 and edited the name of the program with sfo editor to a more appropriate "File Manager" (since thats all I use it for) but the name will not change! I tried restarting the PS3 and and re-transfering the edited PARAM.SFO but still no luck. Is it something else besides PARAM.SFO that needs to be edited or something?

I think you should not temper with changing the file name. You might end up causing it to malfunction.

mM has different names according to what type of CFW you are using. Those that are using Cobra, mM is called mM or something. Those that use Kmeaw it renames itself to multiMAN. So that change must be in the eboot.bin file and as it detects what firmware you are using, it will rename itself accordingly.
    bitsbubba and STLcardsWS like this.
    PS3: Slim 320GB / CFW KMEAW 3.55 / multiMAN v04.xx.xx / blackb0x FTP Server v1.2 3.55 w/ FlashFXP 4.2.x
    PS2: SLIM & PHAT / FreeMcBOOT w/ESR & OPL 9-r651 / SMS w/PSClient v1.3.1
    PSP: PHAT / 5.00 M33-6

Well, the version I updated from (not sure what version it was but was about 1yr old) allowed me to easily change the name with sfo editor and had no problems. Even editing the name of the new multiman does no harm but wont save the name this time. I dont want bootleg "MultiMan" to be displayed. Already changed the icon to my custom file manager icon no problem. Now I need to figure out how to get the name changed so I can have a match.

Yeah, about a year ago, the mM version for Cobra did not exist. That is why you could change the name, I guess. I say, don't try to fix what ain't broke. Get used to the name. Besides multiMAN stands for multi-Manager (game manager). So just get used to it.

Change the name in the SFO then boot to recovery and choose Rebuild Database and it will display the new name after reboot.

well thats homesexual, Not really surprised something like this would happen with multiman. Its really bloated in my opinion and always has been and dont understand why people use it for game launching. Im still on gaia with a custom skin. Its 100% cleaner, faster, and still plays everything I throw at it. MultiMan is only used for special tasks and avoided as much as possible. Its primary feature for me is ripping (movie) blu-rays with the direct access feature (probably like the 1% thats uses this feature lol).

well well well, I'll give this a try. You mean a recovery mode inside of multiman and not ps3s recovery menu right? how do I access multiman recovery?

EDIT: looks like you do mean ps3s recovery. well screw that.

No i mean boot your ps3 to recovery mode then select rebuild database from the recovery menu

Not dangerous or tricky at all. its a normal feature of any ps3.

step 1 power off the ps3
step 2 hold the power button down till you hear two beeps then let the button go
step 3 the ps3 is asking you to hook the controller to usb and hit the ps button
step 4 welcome to recovery mode
    step 5 select rebuild database
step 6 your ps3 reboots and you have what you want.

I guess I'll leave it as "multiman". I just want everyone to know that I hate this and think of multiman as the most bootleg of my 4 installed apps.

@TSA3, no need for those negative remarks or to get angry.

I disagree with you, I don't find multiMAN to be bloated. If you want to change a default setting, just play with the settings. It's all there for you.

    Good luck in your quest!

Oh, and how does Gaia handle BD-mirror fixes? I haven't used that manager for eons!
