Hi everyone. This is my first post+topic. I'll start off by saying: This is a great community. I've been coming here a while for my PS/1/2/3/P homebrew-related needs, but never as a member. PSX-Scene is also one of the first places i like to check out for my 'brew news
I appreciate how homebrew devs + communities such as this one contribute to the ways we can choose to have a better and more fulfilling entertainment experience.

I can almost always figure it out by trial and error or by reading through topics and paying attention until I find a solution, but I'm afraid I have to make a thread for this one:
    -

I'm experiencing a potential bug in the latest version of MultiMAN (04.04.03)
When browsing the retro section, I can see all of my roms+covers are displaying properly except for the NES ones; it's only displaying about half of my 800+ NES roms. Midway through 'K', they just cut off.
The missing roms are in the same folder. The folders are all in the proper locations and in lower case. all roms are uncompressed, .nes format.
restarting the system and rescanning the rom folders changes nothing. I can see and play the missing ones if browse to them from within the Retro category browser itself or with the file manager. I double checked my folders and also tried reinstalling the FCEU pkg.

all of my roms for each system displayed properly with the previous versions. I think it's got something to do with updating.
I haven't actually noticed exactly when this started; it's been an update or two since I've last tried running any roms.
it's not a big deal because i can still play them, but i prefer seeing the games+covers displayed in the Retro category.

Any others have the same issue?

It's a known problem for a while now. There's a limit to the number of roms that it will display. I get the same thing. I use no-intro sets that filtered out everything except US variants and World roms. My VBA roms don't display at all and I think half of the SNES roms aren't shown. Not much you can do about it except delete roms that you'll never play or use file manager to do a quick workaround. For example if all your roms are in dev_hdd0/roms then you could add a character to the folder name for the ones you don't want to look through. You may have to edit multiman's options to point to these folders or replace this with the default folders

    Working
    dev_hdd0/ROMs/NES

    Filtered out
dev_hdd0/ROMs/NESBAK (or NESHidden or NESA, etc, etc, etc)

When you want to display the roms, just delete the extra characters after NES, rename the other folders you're not wanting to view at the time and then hit refresh. I've reported the problem to deank a couple times. Hopefully he comes up with a workaround soon like when you change the view to a certain emulator and hit refresh it will clear all roms from memory and only load the ones for that emulator

True, but honestly the only ROMs I play are ones that I actually owned at one point or another. I had a collection of 200+ NES, 300+ Genesis, 150+ SNES, and probably around 70 GBA carts. Sounds like a lot but I'd get them from friends and from flea markets/garage sales for about a buck a piece. Collect over a period of years and they build up quick. The collection got to be too massive and took up too much space which is why I switched to ROMs. You can fit everything on a thumb drive compared to a closet full of carts

    Thanks for the welcome.

It's weird because I have slightly more Genesis roms and they're all displaying properly.
This is something I can live with, but hopefully it'll be fixed with an update.

Clever workaround BahumatLord. I'll probably do that too
