Hi guys im desperate to "hack/jailbreak" my PS3 ( slim 120gb Cech20A) version.

I really don't want to "brick it" but have been getting the general idea of things with "geohot and multiman" (3.55 firmware version)

Thing is... ive taken an original copy of a game (PES 2008 and GT5) backed them up with multimanager (onto the ps3's hard drive) and when i try to lauch the game from the hard drive through multi manager it dosen't work and sends me straight back to XMB ?

so.. im back at xmb. now what? ive tried "yes and NO" to the question after pressing to launch the game. and it still returns me to XMB ?

Theirs no game icon or anything in the xmb game menu either so can play the back up that way either...

is it something im doing wrong or would it be better to try a different way of hacking it?

ive heard some bad things about wininkoko hence reason why i didn't try it first off..

any help will be much appreciated!!

    Thanks

Backup managers still don't work. You can back games up, but not launch them.

While some games -do- support direct booting (the yes/no question when you launch a game), i know GT5 doesn't, nor do the majority of the games.

Hi there, I see your only intention of "hacking" is to play backups I see. not homebrew.

The reason nothing is happening when you launch a game as Geo's CFW doesnt have any Syscalls on it and therefore mountpoints cannot be achieved, i.e. HDD -> BD-ROM. That FW is speciffically for homebrew ont backups. Some games do work in Direct boot mode on geo's CFW but thats only a handfull.

Waininkoko's CFW is buggy as hell as it is BRAND NEW, and the brick rate is quite high so I wouldn't reccomend it. If your slim came 3.41 and you've upgraded downgrade as there is now a downgrade method for 3.55, again results vary and there are reportrs of bricks.
