I tried Red dead Redemption on both my internal and external drive.
Internal I follwed the Backup compatibility list

I'm not sure what External Cache is though.

On the external drive I had BD-Mirror on and I think I tried the USB patch and the External Files I think that what it's called) right below USB patch.

The game still goes back the the XMB screen.
Like I said I can't get it to fix the permissions on either internal or external drive on both games.
I hit repair permissions and it goes for less then a second and then back to the MultiMan layout.

I haven't had time to try RockBand Country Tracks 2 externally.

check to see if anything was accidentally moved to the root of the HDD with the BD emulator and it was never moved back. If you do find something, perhaps this is what's making it not work. Install BD-ROM reset pkg and run it.

if that doesn't work, provide here the file directory of this game, starting from your games folder, and where exactly the eboot.bin file is. so we can see if it's not in the right folder or directory or it's one folder over or under.

oooo I have an idea that'll work wonders. Rip the game from the disk to the internal HDD. Or I have an even better idea. Make a NTFS partition and pur RDR on that partition and have at it.

And it's not a problem with eboot location. If there was an eboot problem, it would say corrupted disc.

When I checked the USB Drive the PS3_Game folder for Red Dead Redemption was in the root.
MultiMan must have done that when I copied it from the internal to the USB drive.

Also the Red Dead Redemption folder was in a GAMES folder instead of GAMEZ with all my other games.

I don't really like the way MultiMan copies games from drive to drive I think I'll stick with Comgenie Awesome File Manager 355 for that.

I can't test it until tomorrow, so I've see what happens since I moved the PS3_GAMES folder into the BLES00680 - Red Dead Redemption with everything else.

That was probably you if you enabled SELECT+X when trying to launch that game from the internal or external. I think once you move that folder back to where it belongs--use BD-ROM reset pkg, that should fix it, if not then move it manually or delete it. Plus you will have to go into the game menu and switch off the BD-ROM and external icons, or else if you try to launch that game again it will cause this folder to move back to the root of the drive--please consult with the multiMAN user manual to learn why it does this.

Then try to launch the Rock Band game. See if that helps. Please note: if you delete the folder instead of moving it back, a game will not work--whoever that game folder it belonged to.

That's fine. GAMES or GAMEZ is fine for multiMAN. But you didn't give me the directory path of your game, please try to, and write down for me so I can check an error somewhere.

I'm telling you, the problem will be fixed if you just rerip it from the disk. THe hierarchy should be hdd0/GAME(S)/(Z)/BL*S*****/PS3_GAME/[insert boot here]

Rock Band Country Tracks 2 works fine off the external drive with BD emulator on.
Still messing around with Red Dead Redemption.
I'm going to try re-dumping it.

Before I tried re-dumping the Red Dead Redemption I tried Rogero and it did not work in that either.
Same issue, keeps going back to the XMB.
Tried internal and External and with the Hermes 4 payload and the other one (I can't remember the name now).

so the multiman- select X is the same as if i checked the bd-emu?

and if i already have disc in drive and an internal game, would that already give me the effects of selectX for extenrals?

I have Red Dead Redemption working from external, you must be doing something wrong. I have no option selected on Game Settings, there is no need to, get the latest version of multiMAN with BDEMU2 and Hermes as the selected payload (i know you already have it just mentioning it) and the option Verify USB Games under Settings selected to Always or Auto. Then when you select the game multiMAN will join the split files (7 GB) to the internal HDD and after that you'll be taken back to XMB and you'll be able to start the game normally
