There are lots of tutorials out there for FTP over ethernet with Windows, I'm wondering if anyone knows how to do it with a macbook + osx Lion? I tried experimenting using Win7 instructions, but without any luck. Thanks for any help!

Don't know anything about Filezilla but I use Transmit to FTP files to my PS3 over ethernet and it works smoothly. Just boot your PS3 and launch Multiman + connect. I'm sure Filezilla isn't much different.
so it works like plug-n-play? You didnt adjust settings at all? I'll check it out, if so.
Filezilla is quite buggy for Mac.
You can either use Transmit or Cyberduck. The last one is freeware.
Make sure you choose FTP instead of SFTP and you'll be fine.
On most default configurations, you can leave the User Name and Password fields empty.
Right, just enter your PS3's IP address into the FTP client and connect. At least that's how it is with Transmit. Just make sure you've launched multiman first though or else it won't connect.
I think Multiman's built-in FTP client defaut setting is 'On' so you shouldn't have to mess with it.
thanks Norkusa, i'll try that out within the next few days and report back (for other people searching for the same mac FTP stuff.)
+1 for Transmit.. Cyberduck is too unstable and the others don't work at all..
If you search the forum, I've done some fairly detailed explanations how to get FTP working with a mac in some previous threads. I was using Blackbox back then but MM is quite OK.
oh wow, i'm super stupid.![]()
This whole time I've been plugging my ethernet cable directly from my macbook to my ps3, LAN style, instead of into my router. Plugged it into my router last night and got everything settled. Now I get solid 1.5mb/s speed, which still takes some time, but its better than the unstable 500mb/s I was getting over wireless.
I checked out Transmit, it's good! I second those recommendations.
