A certain game's freezing issue
A certain game's freezing issue –
I've been searching for answers to my dilemma for a good two or three hours now, and while I have read two other threads about this exact problem, none of them seem to be able to answer my question.
I am using kmeaw 3.55 and the latest multiMAN [I just updated it a few hours ago, in fact]. The problem is, I have gotten to a certain point in Atelier Rorona where I have to go into a new area of the Ortega Ruins. Every time I go there, however, the game is stuck in a continual loading process.
I've noticed I'm not the only one with this problem- indeed, it seems quite common from the number of people on the forums who have posted about it. The thing is, one of the threads ended with someone giving the OP a save file where they had already passed the section in question. The other thread suggested installing lv2 patch v4 and Open Manager. However, I have found no information on installing or using Open Manager [not in English anyway] and I hear multiMAN with kmeaw 3.55 eliminates the need for a lv2 patch anyway.
So then, is this true? Regardless, does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix my issue with this particular game? I'm afraid I'm not yet very good at PS3 tampering- I've installed CFWs on several PSPs, and use a flash cart for my Nintendo DS, but my PS3 was still in OFW until Sunday. So please forgive me for my utter ignorance.
If Open Manager is the only way to fix this problem, does anyone have any idea how to use it? I'm completely at a loss, as it has only a handful of commands, none of which point to what I need done.
Lv2 patcher is not needed anymore, but still has some different styles of patches that can be used with a BM that doesn't have auto-patching built in. The best way to do so is to go to the lv2 patcher thread (should be stickied in one of these sub-forums (I'm on a mobile right now otherwise I'd find it for ya)), grab that with the 9 different types of patches (I think there was 9, you'll at least want one with the first 4 if that's what worked previously) and then goto the Gaia thread (a split off from Open Manager) and get version 2.0 (shouldn't have auto-patching built in). That should be pretty similar. You could also try fix permissions either built into MM or the fixpermissions.pkg (which I believe, now that I think about it, should all be able to be found in my sig links) and run both of those. Other then that, you can try a different method of running the game (like making a psn style package with dean's tools), external/internal, with/without a blu-ray in the drive, USB patch mode, etc, and see if any of those change the behavior. Sorry I can't be of anymore help, but I didn't want your question to go completely unanswered.
I'm trying the Gaia Manager/lv2 patcher fix now. I should have mentioned before that I'd tried to run it as a PSN package once, but the freeze issue still persisted.
Here's a crazy thought- the Japanese version of Atelier Rorona had a patch that fixed most of the freezes I heard, but the US version never recieved it. I downloaded the patch just in case- Is there a way to modify the game ID to allow the patch to work on the US version? Or is this out of the question for whatever reason?
Edit: Fixing the permissions didn't work, and neither did the lv2+Gaia idea. I am now completely at a loss...
