more info needed dude like which games ? and on which firmware are you ? and why are you still on 7.1 ?
The only time i noticed this issue was when i got my 7.2 muteki system and GT5 wouldn't run 7.1. The way i fixed it was to replace the optical cable and just run the audio thru HDMI.
Im not 100% but im sure optical doesn't do 7.1 and you have to use hdmi now, I not got 7.1 yet, hard to find a good package for 150 lol.
Also check you not got that multi audio enabled and using wrong audio output (will only be stereo)
He's correct. You cant do 7.1 on Optical. It does not have the bandwidth.
I'm using HDMI via my fat jb PS3 to my Sony STR DH810 Receiver.
Its capable of handling 7.1 from any other source, including my slim when it plays blurays.
I cant say there has been a single game I've played that been in 7.1. That's why I wondered if maybe the backup managers just weren't compatible or something. Or perhaps all my backup sources aren't encoded in 7.1. I thought perhaps in order to save space, 7.1 tracks were removed and left with stereo.
Edit: I figured it out. For some reason all I had to do was go through the sound setup again so it'd automatically recognize everything. Its always the most simple thing. Lol. I work tech support and sometimes it seems I'll be having people pull netsh commands, and the problem ended up being 'use proxy server' in Internet Explorer was checked or something. fml. Sorry for the waste of your time dudes!
