any improvement on installing game data?
any improvement on installing game data? –
You know, some PS3 games have an option to install game data to supposedly improve loading time when playing a game off BD, what about on MM? Is there any improvement on performance or stability by doing this?
Even on MM i tend to install the game data anyway just for the sake of it but I sometime wonder if that is just a waste of space? I am not really sure how MM loads a game so please forgive my ignorance. Any help would be great! Thanks.
1) If the game is started from internal HDD it may be better NOT to install game data (if game permits).
2) If the game is started from external HDD it may be better TO install game data.
In case 1: You'll have both the game and its data on the same physical drive (internal HDD). There is no need to waste space for the game data.
In case 2: Accessing game data from internal HDD will be faster, compared to read-speeds from external HDD, so it is better to install the game data.
In both cases loading times should be shorter than when using actual BD game disc.

That's exactly my problem too. I have a 120GB PS3 Slim and that's not enough for games and I don't have an external HDD. For exmple, I have NFS: Shift on the internal HDD and it still installs the game data. Heavy Rain and GTA does the same too. They don't give you the option to not install the game data, unlike PES which is optional. It would have been good if there was a way around this, like fooling the game to think there is a data even if there is no actual game data.
This is impossible.
