[Tutorial] How to create themes by hcode123 –
What I use to create themes:
Artweaver.exe (good for creating transparent backgrounds)
Photoscape.exe (good for colorizing, combininng images, and creating the xmb.png icons)
p3textractor.exe (extracts p3t themes/regular ps3 themes)
mmTM_GUI (extracts and repacks multiman themes)
Original Multiman Theme.thm (extract the theme with mmTM_GUI)
Ultimate.p3t (extract with p3textractor.exe) (Optional)
hcode123's app pack.rar

hcode123's basic guide to making multiMAN themes:
This guide is for people who already know how to use photoshop/artweaver and other similar pc programs. You want to make sure each one of your images match up with the sizes and the extensions below. You will notice below the name of the images, the sizes, and the descriptions next to each image.
Make sure to unpack and take a look at the original multiman theme or my theme. To get a good I deal of what goes where. You will be using the mmTM_GUI pc app to extract and repack mm themes.

XMBBG.PNG (1920x1080) mm xmb clone display
Copy and paste all the images you modified, into the multiman theme folder. (Overwrite all images with your own images.) Then just rename the folder to your theme's name. Repack theme with mmTM_GUI.
hcode123's advance noob guide to making multiMAN themes:
-First you will need to create a folder with the name of your theme.
-Then within that main folder create a folder with the name of your theme and the word "theme" at the end (eg. God of War/God of War Theme) or you can just replace the images in the original multiman theme
-Use mmTM_GUI to extract Original Multiman Theme or one my themes.
Dont be intimidated with all the writing I did. Most of you probably just wanna change the wallpapers, icons, and sound anyway . If so, just follow the wallpaper guide, the Icons guide, or the sound guide.
Make sure to unpack and take a look at the original multiman theme to get a good I deal of what goes where. You will be using the mmTM_GUI pc app to extract and repack mm themes.
So first you are going to need 13 or 14 images, with PICPA.PNG image being the exception . All images must be 1920x1080. I usually use google to search for my images. Save your theme images to the outside of your theme folder.
-So, go to google
-Click on images in the menu bar.
-Type the name of whatever theme you are planning to make.
-Then click search tools under the google search bar.
-Then click on sizes.
-Then scroll down to "exactly" and click.
-Then type 1920x1080
-Now click the search
So now all the images in google will be 1920x1080. Just click on the images and right click and save into your main folder. (if you see another image that you want that is not 1920x1080 you can easily cut and resize the image with artweaver or photoscape. (If photoscape is used go to editor.) It is always best to go with a image that is bigger. When you make smalller images bigger they become blurry.
(All the images below have to be 1920x1080 and must have the correct extension jpg, png etc..)
1. AUR0.JPG (4x2 game display)
2. AUR1.JPG (4x2 game display)
3. AUR2.JPG (4x2 game display)
4. AUR3.JPG (4x2 game display)
5. AUR5.JPG (game list 8x4 display)
6. AVCHD.JPG (image that pops up with your avchd files)
7. CBOOT.PNG (multiman booting display)
8. DESKBG.JPG (desktop display)
9. PICPA.PNG (cover flow display)
10. PSVBG.JPG (ps vita display)
11. TMBBG.JPG (top media bar display)
12. XBDBG.JPG. (xbox360 dash display)
13. XMB1.PNG (wallpaper that comes up when you highlight multiman)
14. XMBBG.PNG (mm xmb clone display)
After you rename and resize all of your images. Put them into the theme folder or just replace the images in the original multiman theme with your own and rename folder to your themes name. You can repack your theme now with mmTM_GUI. That's if you just want to change the wallpapers.
Here you will learn how to combine multiple images into one with photoscape. I will be using the PICPA.PNG image for example.
-Drag and drop 9 images from the 13 images you chosen for your wallpaper
-Then on the right hand side you will notice 3 tabs, down, side, and checker.
-Then adjust columns to 3 (on the bottom right hand side)
-You can adjust the zoom bar so you can see your whole image (best to pull zoom bar all the way to the left.)
-You can move your 9 images around how ever you like. (I usually put the theme logo in the middle)
-Now the image will not be 1920x1080.
-Click on edit and resize your image to 1920x1080.
-There you have it the PICPA.PNG image
Icons look better with a transparent backgrounds. The images with white/grey squares in the background means that they have a transparent background. Also make sure to unpack and take a look at the original multiman theme or my theme. To get a good I deal of what goes where.
Now we are going to work on the multiman xmb icons. So all the images below must be 96x96 size and must be a png file. Now you can google search for these icons or you can extract a regular ps3 p3t theme.
-Get your ps3 p3t theme (a regular ps3 theme for the official xmb display)
-Drag and drop p3t theme file into p3textractor.exe (this will unpack the p3t theme file)
-Locate your unpacked ps3 theme. (I usually find mine in the owner folder)
-You'll notice there are images for each icon below. Except for the bluray disc and hdd. On the side of each image you'll noticed I put the image that I would use from a unpacked p3t theme file
-Resize the images to 96x96.
BLU.PNG (bluray disc google search)
HDD.PNG (icon_mbox_received_1.gim or google search)
OFF.PNG (off button)
Save icons into the theme folder
Here you will learn how to change the color of your images. (You can change the color of your icons so they match your theme)
-Drag and drop your image
-Click on the home tab(in bottom menu)
-Click on the black arrow pointing down on the Bright,Color button.(right under resize)
-Then Click colorize
-There will be 3 bars for you to adjust the color with. Color, saturation, and level.
This setting will be saved automaticly after colorizing. So no need to adjust the colorizing every time. You'll just have to click colorizing.
How to make XMB.PNG image:
Alright to make the XMB.PNG image you will need 24 images. All images have to be 128x128. You can use some of the images from your unpacked p3t theme or google search for them. I like to use photoscape and artweaver for my xmb icons.
-Open up photoscape
-Click on combine
-Drop all 24 images into the top bar. 1 by 1 or all at once. (Names of the 24 images below)
-Click the down tab to the right. (there will be 3 tabs down, side, and checker)
These are the 24 images you are going to be looking for in your unpacked p3t folder and again you can easily just google your own. These 24 images are the same images in your unpacked p3t theme file.
8. icon_game_1.gim or favorite game icon
10. icon_download_1.gim or icon_network_1.gim
16. bluray disc icon (google search)
18. icon_music_album_default_1.gim or icon_music_1.gim
22. icon_onlinemanual_1.gim or icon_tv_1.gim
23. icon_playing_1.gim or icon_tv_1.gim or google search
(You can also colorize your icons so they can match your background or each other. Just go to the colorizing tutorial.)
After you drop all 24 images into the white bar then the image size will be 128x3072. (check the right hand side of the screen. It will tell you the image size as you add your images.
-Save image as XMB.PNG. (save on the outside of your theme folder)
-Open XMB.PNG in artweaver
-Go to layer tab
-Click duplicate layer (options is to the right in artweaver also)
-Now click on the eye next to "Layer 1 Copy" (option is to the right under layer and the eye should appear to be closed)
-Select the magic wand tool to make your transparent background.(You can adjust tolerance, with the tolerance box at the top of artwever, just slide bar to 0-100.)
-Click on the white area and click delete key on your keyboard
-Save image into your theme folder
For best results continue the steps below.
Alternative way for XMB.PNG:
Now for a more cleaner look you can just copy and paste your 24 icons to a transparent 128x3072. This will eliminate white area that did not get deleted before.
1. Go to artweaver
2. Click new
3. Set settings for transparent and size 128x3072 and click ok.
4. Now zoom in 100% on your new 128x3072
5. If you created an XMB.PNG using the method above. Open it in artweaver too zoom in 100% on it also.
Line up your previous XMB.PNG next to your new 128x3072. Put them really close together so you can line them up. They should be the exact same size and both zoomed in at 100%. Make you sure you strecth each window so each one matches each other.
6. Open up your unpacked p3t theme folder
7. Drag and drop your icon_update_1.gim into artweaver (This is the first image.)
8. Click on the shape selection tool to the right.(Looks like a dotted lined square)
9. Right click on your icon_update_1.gim
10. Click select all
11. Click on the edit tab at the top.
12. Click copy
13. Then click on your new 128x3072 tranparent.
14. Go up to the edit button and click paste
15. Now select the move tool
16. Move and line up icon_update_1.gim with the one in the XMB.PNG (Which should be right next to your new 128x3027)
Follow steps 7-16 for the next 23 icons (Go back to the 24 icons for a reminder)
Save XMB.PNG into your theme folder. Overwrite the old one.
How I create my CMLOGO1.PNG
The CMLOGO1.PNG has to be 128x128. This icon takes you to the multiman folder. I usually google search for this one. Look for one that is even in size all the way around. For example, 300x300 or 300x290.
-Go to google.
-Search "theme name" icon png
-Save your image
-resize your image to 128x128 with artweaver or photoscape. If you use photoscape go to editor to resize image.
-rename image to CMLOGO1.PNG
Save CMLOGO1.PNG into your theme folder.
Creating the multiman icon/ICON0.png:
The ICON0.PNG image has to be 320x176.
Now the question is do you want a character in the multiman icon w/ nice font, do you just want the name and font style, or just a logo. For your character...
-Go to google
-Type in search bar name of theme and png
-Find one that is appealing to you (the images with white/grey squares in the background means that they have a transparent background.)
-Click on your image
-Then right click and save as
-Open a new file in artweaver.
-Make the size 320x176.
-Make sure the background is transparent.
-Drag and drop your image you saved from google, into artweaver.
-Resize your image if you have to. The height must be 176 or lower. As the image is 320x176.
-Click on the shape selection tool.
-Right click on your image (the one you got from google.)
-Click select all.
-Then go to edit tab and click copy
-After that click on your blank 320x176
-Go back to the edit tab and click paste.
-Save as ICON0.PNG (Save into your theme folder.)
-I usually go to dafont.com for all my fonts or I might even search google for my themes logo generators. (Optional)
-Just drag and drop your font.ttf into your PC's "Font" folder. (Optional)
-Now drag and drop your your ICON0.PNG into photoscape, then editor.
-Click on the Object tab
-Click the letter T in the menu.
-Select your text
-Type "multiman" in the white box.
-Adjust the settings how ever you like. Outline, opacity, shadow, and anchor.
-Save image in your theme folder
(If you have a mp3 file already that you would like to use just change the file extension to .BIN)
I go to youtube and search for my theme songs.
-When I find my theme song I copy the address.
-Then I go to YouTube to mp3 Converter.
-Then I paste the address into the white box.
-The youtube video will now convert to mp3.
-When the file is done converting you can now click the download link.
-Now you have to change the extension of the mp3 to bin. Some people can easily just change the extention of a file, but I'm on windows xp. So...
-Add file to an archive.(add it to a winrar/zip/archive file.)
-Now open up your winrar file and change the extension from .mp3 to .BIN and rename to SOUND.BIN
-Extract to your theme folder.
If you want the sound that plays when you highlight multiman. Just copy the SND0.AT3 from one of your games.(Can be found in BLESXXXXX/PS3_GAME/)
Display your theme in multiman
Now all the files and images in the original multiman theme or my theme, that you did not modify, just copy them over to your theme folder. You should have 58-59 images and files.
-Drag and drop your theme folder over the mmTM_GUI pc app
-This will pack your theme into a .thm file
-copy and paste your theme onto your usb drive.
-plug your usb drive into your ps3.
-go to to the desktop display
-double click on root
-double click your usb drive (usb001 or usb000)
-double click your theme and there you have it.
How to create the preview image using multiman:
Here you will learn how to create the PREVIEW.JPG. So, after you install your mm theme.
-Click the PS button on your controller
-Go to photo column
-Go down to save screen shot click x button
-It's going to take you back to multiman
-Click x again to save screen shot.
-It will then save.
Your going to do this to every display you want. When done saving your screenshots.
-Go to root (in mm desktop display)
-Then go to ps3_home
-Then go to photo (checkout your screenshots)
- Highlight the screenshot.png(s)
-Click circle, then click copy.
-Then paste into your usb.
-Take usb to the pc
-Then go to combine
-Then drag and drop your images. I usually use 4 screenshots
-Click the checker tab (there will be 3 tabs down, side, and checker)
-Select how many columns you need. (2 or 3)
-You can adjust the zoom bar so you can see your whole image
-Now you must resize your image to 1920x1080.
-Save image outside of your theme folder. (You can use this photo to show your friends your theme.)
-Make another and resize it to 640x360
-Save this one into your theme folder
-Then repack theme with mmTM_GUI
-Have fun with your new theme.
If you have any questions just pm me or post your questions here. Thanks and good luck on creating your themes.
