I just had a few questions I wanted to ask before I update my ps3, There similar questions to what other people have been asking, but there not exactly the same so I want to make sure I understand everything correctly just in case I missed something, I have a CECHA01 fat ps3 running on rebug 3,41,3 cfw with multiMan 2,09,02 and I want to update to REBUG 4,30,1 STANDARD,

Q1, Can I QA flag my ps3 from cfw 3,41, I keep on reading you have to be on cfw 3,55, but the Rebug,me site says I can do it from any cfw 3,55 and lower,

Q2, How do I go about updating my firmware? Should I downgrade back to ofw 3,41 and then update to REBUG 3,55,4 REX EDITION in recovery mode? Or do I just update to 3,55,4 REX EDITION in recovery mode or through the xmb? Does it matter which way I update?

Q3, I keep on reading suggestions to back up your nor/nand, According to the Rebug,me site, REBUG TOOLBOX comes standard with 3,55,4 REX EDITION and it has tools to back up my nand from there, There's also tools to EXPORT HYPERVISOR LV1 MEMORY and EXPORT GAMEOS LV2 MEMORY, should I go ahead and back those up too just for the hell of it and should I be backing up anything else?

Q4, What's the benefit of updating all the way to cfw 4,30, other then more games being naturally compatible, I keep on seeing games released with patches for different firmware versions so what's the point? Should I just stay on Rebug 3,55,4 REX EDITION once I get there?

Q5, I have multiMan 2,09,02, with games installed on the hd, and some psn games on the xmb, Most of those games are patched to work on cfw 3,41 so they should work, when I update, since there on lower firmware right? Do I have to delete this version of multiman before I install the latest multiMAN v04,20,00 BASE, Can I just update it over the version I have now, once I update to 3,55, and will my games still work?

Q6, "spkg sig" I'm not understanding what this is, does this get patched when I update to REBUG 3,55,4 REX EDITION or do I have to do it myself?

Q7, "DEX/CEX" I truly don't understand what this is, From what I understand, cex is standard cfw and dex cfw is used so you can sign into psn, I have no desire to login into psn, but can someone elaborate on this,

Q7, With spkg sig patched and qa toggled, is it really that easy to change and downgrade firmware? It I wanted to change cfw could I just install it over the current cfw installed? Could I actually go back to ofw? Way back when I was reading about how to install cfw, there was people complaining about losing blu-ray playback ability when they downgraded, Is that still happening?

So finally this is how I plan on updating, If anybody has any suggestions of what else I should do or if I'm doing something wrong, please tell me,

    1, Install toggle_qa,pkg, QA Flag ps3,
2, Go into recovery mode, update to REBUG 3,55,4 REX EDITION,
3, Use Rebug Toolbox to back up nand,
    4, Install multiMAN v04,20,00 BASE
5, And everything should work fine right

Lastly if you read all this, thanks, Most if not all of these questions are redundant, but I just want to make absolutely sure I'm doing everything correctly, It's not like I have multiple ps3's lying around to try it over if I mess up,

Yeah your good, update to 3.55.4 then go to either 4.21.2 Rex ( if you use Linux on your ps3) or go to 4.30.1... I recommend those 2 over 3.55 because multiman will auto fix your game for those 2 and they will be supported by newer versions of multiman.. 3.55 will not. You're psn games will need to be resigned though, no matter which new firmware you chose... Your regular games will be fine though. And Cex is a retail console, Dex is a developer console...adds options the end user wouldn't know what to do with mostly and last time I checked dex couldn't sign on to PSN.

Ok thanks for the information. Once I update I think I'm just going to stay on 3.55.4 for now, just to see how everything works out. According to description of the latest version of multiman, it should be compatible with REBUG 3.55.4 REX EDITION. (unless I'm reading something wrong) I guess I'm off to update then.

Also keep in mind that before posting in the General Jailbreak section, try to see if we have a official sub-forum for the particular subject. We have an official REBUG sub-forum--where I moved this topic now.

And make sure to read all the tutorials and sticky topics (posts found at the top of that sub-forum) for more details.
