rsod when exiting rebug selector
rsod when exiting rebug selector –
06-29-2011,09:15 AM
I just decided to make the switch from kmeaw 3.55 to rebug last night, mostly because of the fake save owner feature. I installed rebug and update .01. I went into rebug mode through rebug selector after installing, switched to rebug mode and menu 2, and used the fake save owner feature with no issues. Later I went into rebug selector again, changed things back to the normal mode (just wanted to go back and compare the differences, which I gather aren't much on the surface for a less knowledgeable user such as myself), then went back to rebug selector and changed it to rebug mode again. I hit the ps button to leave selector, the black screen asking if I wish to leave the game started coming up, but then I got the red screen of death, which I've never seen before.
After rebooting and just leaving the ps3 in rebug mode, everything has been okay so far. But...
1. I'm wondering if there's much cause for concern and/or if this is a problem others have run into. When searching for past discussions on this, about all I found were people saying they got the rsod when messing around with spoofers, but I've never done anything with spoofers.
2. If there's any reason to ever switch back to normal mode, at least for someone like me who's really only using the fake save owner feature and nothing else from the debug settings. Maybe I'll get more interested in the other features as I learn more about rebug, though.
Thanks for any help (and thanks to the rebug team for putting this out there for us).

You must shutdown the PS3 when exiting Rebug selctor, not just quitting the game. This is why you got the RSOD. Nothing to worry about though.

Okay, thanks for the response. That's reassuring.
Just for clarification: does this mean I would need to do a hard shutdown by going holding down the power button on the ps3 while still in rebug selector? I ask because at least in my case, the rsod happened right after I hit ps button on my controller--the actual screen that asks if you want to quit the game, turn off your controller, turn off your system, etc. was loading but didn't make it.
