Rebug 4.xx Update Guide 05-18-2013
Rebug 4.xx Update Guide 05-18-2013 –
02-21-2013,04:48 PM
UPDATE 5/18/13: Added 4.41.2 Lite firmware, FYI: 4.41.2 includes Rebug Toolbox 02.01.04 in Package manager
Some users may still want 4.30.2 instead of 4.41.2 for the DEX/debug features, so I kept it in the guide.
Note: It is always a good idea to very the MD5 of any PS3UPDAT.PUP when it is on your USB stick ready to be installed.
REBUG_4.41.2_LITE_PS3UPDAT.PUP – c974aaf02e14ac002cbb9a0d80a40890
REBUG_4.30.2_REX_PS3UPDAT.PUP – abc9e91a4dcc79874f6ac783723e4a9d
REBUG_3.55.4_REX_PS3UPDAT.PUP – 46541c4f97604068c05e363412478df5
Rebug_Update_Package_0.2_4.30.x.pkg - 934953ea5eb60eac3732a8ee8a9b1184
IMPORTANT!!: Remember to remove any game disc you might have left in the drive before any firmware installation.
IMPORTANT!!: Turn off any firmware version spoofs if possible.
GENERAL UPDATE PROCEDURE:
USB stick formatted fat32
Updates must be set up like this 'USB:\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP'
In XMB go to 'Settings' > 'System Update' > 'Update via Storage Media'
1a) If you are currently on 3.55 OFW you can now start by directly installing 4.xx Rebug through XMB
since QA can now be enabled on CFW higher than 3.55.
1b) If you are on an OFW lower than 3.55, start by installing 3.55.4 Rebug through XMB.
1c) If you are currently on a different CFW such as 3.55 Kmeaw you can start by getting a backup of the flash chip and
Enabling QA with Rebug Toolbox before the actual firmware is installed, just to be safe.
2) Install REBUG TOOLBOX 02.01.xx package
If you are already running Rebug firmware you can find it in Package Manager>Install Package Files>PS3 Hard Disk in the XMB.
You can also find the package on the official Rebug site if you are on a non-Rebug CFW.
3) Run Rebug Toolbox. Go to the Utilities column and 'Export Flash to File'.
This will make a backup of your NAND/NOR to a USB stick. If it gives you an error try switching USB ports.
4) After you get a successful dump of your flash chip, go back up in Utilities to 'Toggle QA Flag' and switch it to 'Enabled'.
5) If you started with 3.55.4 or non-Rebug CFW and now have your backup and QA Enabled, install Rebug 4.xx through XMB.
6) If you installed Rebug 4.30.2 and want the 4.41 spoof:
Install Rebug_Update_Package_0.2_4.30.x.pkg, run from the XMB, and follow the on-screen prompt to install the 4.41 spoof.
The process can take a minute or two for NAND consoles, a message should pop up when it's completed and the console will reboot.
Run Rebug Toolbox again. Go to the second column 'System Mode' and switch it to 'Rebug' to enable the 4.41 spoof.

Nice Job!
I moved it to the Rebug sub-forum (please keep a mental note that one does exist for these types of topics).
And I stickied your tute, so it can be found at the very top section of the Rebug sub-forum.

You might add to first :
* Remove disc from BD drive
* Remove any spoofs that may be active

I never really had a problem with spoofs (never had to remove them, IDK) but yes definitely REMOVE ANY DISC from the drive (I actually downgraded when I did it, QA flag enabled
but many have accidentally updated)

I think you need to switch it back into CEX mode with the Toolbox before you install the update, although I'm not 100% sure about this as I have never tried to install a Rebug update while in DEX.

Yes this should work fine, before the newest update I would always stop at 3.55 CFW just for enabling the QA since it was the only way to do it, but now that is not necessary. You could go to 3.55 OFW first also, a lot of people do that, but in my experience its not necessary either when using Rebug firmwares.

After thinking about Hulk's question I went and looked at Rebug's install instructions and noticed this:
"From XMB install REBUG 4.21.x AND HIGHER over any 3.55 OFW/CFW/MFW or the same or lower firmware version CFW with spkg sig check patched or any firmware version CFW with spkg sig check patched and QA enabled.
From XMB install REBUG 3.55.x REX EDITION over the same or lower firmware version OFW/CFW/MFW or any firmware version CFW/MFW with spkg sig check patched and QA enabled."
Because of this I have added back the information about Rebug 3.55.4 as I cannot recommend installing 4.30.2 over a lower firmware than 3.55.
