well, the title says it all. this is the second time everything has gotten currupted on my ps3 HDD. Is there any way to bypass the screen to recover the data? unlocking the HDD(taking the encryption off) so i can copy some information from it to my PC. I have family pictures on there that i want to keep and also college pictures that i would like to keep. So does anyone know how to either bypass the screen or recover the information or unencrypt the HDD so i can extract some of the data. just so you know the HDD is western digital 750GB and if memory serves i think it is the caviar series.

thanks in advance for any help

I had that same issue before on the default HDD that came with the PS3. Your sectors are dropping like flies for whatever reason. If you can get into the XMB, I would advice you to do a back up and swap your HDD. Try staying away from newer drives if you can. I couldn't afford a newer HDD so I took one of my old PC HDD that was sata 3.5" 500gb HDD. I had to do an externail-internal mod but I no longer have any issues with my PS3.
    Need an Original EBOOT???
    Use your disc...
