unfortunately no one is helpful around here so you will just have to make do with the cht package floating around the internet, it has most games in there so it ain't bad, i am still trying to figure out how to enable cheats myself so you are not the only one.

btw i have tried putting the cht files in the same location as the rom files but no dice, maybe you can figure out where to put the cheat files and how to enable them and report here if you can.

Nobody is helpful....? Interesting interpretation. All the help can be given with a simple search, but unfortunately no one has the brain power for that so I will just have to make do with answering the same questions over and over and over

There are TWO dedicated SNES9x topics in this very section, so this question would have been answered by looking in either of those.

    1. The easiest and most sure way of making a .CHT is to create it within an emulator.
    2. All code devices are compatible, the emulator will automatically parse them. Game Genie and AR are the most popular and yes, the latest "versions" of those devices are compatible.
    3. This depends on whether or not you've altered your game paths. For me, I just dump a copy of the .CHT file into both SRAM and ROMS.
    4. No, you can't just put [code name][code] into a TXT file, rename it to CHT and have it work.
    5. No, you can't have multiple games in one .CHT file. One game, one .CHT.

The easiest way is simply to download zSNES for the PC (you can use SNES9x too, but my operating experience lies with zSNES so I'll use that method)

    a. Load the ROM you want cheats one.
    b. Then open the menu and select CHEATS > Add Code.
    c. Enter the code you want, then give it a description, then click ADD.
    d. Do the same for all your other codes. Remember that GG codes need the "-" inserted.
    e. Once you've added all your codes, hit SAVE.

That will create a .CHT file in the main zSNES directory. Simply copy that over to your PS3/SNES9x folder and put it in SRAM or ROMS. There are a few caveats you need to be aware of; The CHT file *must* be the same filename as your ROM. Not the ZIP, but the ROM inside it. So if your ZIP is Chrono Trigger Bestest Gaem EVAR!.zip but the ROM inside it is Chrono_Trigger[!][U].smc then the .CHT must be named Chrono_Trigger[!][U].cht. Secondly; don't add too many codes. SNES9x on the PS3 can't handle too many codes, usually it's safe to add around 20 or so. Finally; not all codes will work on SNES9x as they do on other emulators or even on the real SNES hardware.

There is also a new method built into SNES9x-PS3 that allows you to use an on-screen keyboard for adding codes manually, though remember the code limitations mentioned above. Read the readme file and search/read the other two threads in this section for instructions on how to use it. The readme (and also in-game buttons listing) will tell you how to activate/deactivate cheats and choose between which ones you want.

**** me! i added a couple cheat files last night and created their own folder and path to that folder, renamed and made sure everything had the same names and couldn't get anything to load.

fucing zip files, i renamed the zip and not the contents.
thanks Sabin. would have never figured that one out and have it be so simple.

Simple. Play the game on the PC emulator of Snes9x, put on codes and make sure you "enable" the codes on the emulator, make suire they work then save the game(both ways) save state and the actual save game through the game. Normally this saves the codes to its cheat folder I think, the cheat file should be in the cheats folder, and you can drag that into the snes9x folder on the ps3's hdd...where ever that may be. It should work I have not tried cheats on the ps3 emulator...I've been doing it through the PC emulator then drag my save file back over to my usb. lol Which ever way you want to do it.
