I just wanted to test this emulator out to see how it looks even though it's not advanced. I need some help here getting it to work.
I have a Saturn ROM(.mdf) and renamed the file to "game.iso". I took the BIOS and renamed it to bios.bin(lowercase). I placed them both at the root of a USB stick.
I launched the emulator from XMB. It shows up just fine with the low resolution of course but it doesn't seem to recognize my files on USB stick. I can view the on-screen menu(system settings, play, advanced controls,etc.). I can hit X from system settings & gain access to those options.
When I hit X on play from the main menu it does nothing. The timer starts counting but nothing else happens. What's supposed to show up? Going back to renaming. Does the file have to be named exactly "game.iso" and not the actual title of the game?
And, is it okay to just rename the .mdf file to .iso & not need to convert it to ISO first? Can there be any other files on the USB stick other than game.iso & bios.bin? What about multiple ROMS on the USB stick? How does that work if the ROM needs to be "game.iso"? If there can be multiple ROMS what's the limit?
I know you guys are saying it's not worth it but we all have our own agendas. I have a few games I loved on the Saturn that I want to see if it will work even though it's in small resolution. Thanks guys!![]()

This would be a great EMU to get on the PS3 I wish some devs would work on this!!!

I would be amazed if this ever got beyond proof of concept stage. Saturn is not a pleasant system to emulate at the best of times.
Could you help me a bit here subcon:

The games run SO SO slow you have to wait for each screen to change about 30 seconds , its bad .. but i hope someone can fix it ..

tonybologna, it's been a while since I've tried this stuff so I'm not that sure. It's possible your bios region doesn't match the game region. I think it boots straight into the game if everything is ok.
I'm pretty sure I have a USA BIOS. I checked that when I first got the BIOS. I also believe I have an NTSC game image. Does the actual ISO need to be called "game.iso" & not the actual title of the game? Can I just rename it to an ISO or convert first?
For example, take the game "World Series Baseball.mdf", does it need to be renamed "game.iso"? Do you need the .mds file anywhere on the USB stick as well? Is there only one game allowed on the USB stick at a time? I know this isn't the ideal emulator but I do wanna play around with it if I can get it working. Thanks!

Ah, this is almost definitely your problem. It isn't enough to simply rename the file, it usually has to be converted properly. I think I saw someone suggest a program called MagicISO or something similar for that. However, I'm not 100% it can handle mds/mdf. I would recommend searching for a game that is already an ISO that you can just rename and try. That way you will know it's not your setup at fault.
Haha, I just spotted the unprovoked attack on me in this thread, missed it back when it was made, because of this post.
Apparently I'm bonkers?
Comparing a PSX to a saturn? No mate, they may be both 32bit 90s machines but that's where the similarity ends.
And yeah there are 8 processors/controllers which need emulating in the saturn as Sabin pointed out on the wikipedia. Even programming on the 1 VDP was still a bitch.
LOL
I hope he's bought a clue since then.![]()
