Come on now, if you don't care about Doom, go complain elsewhere. There's plenty of people, me included, that love to see things like this, and will be playing it. Why bitch about GT5? The game doesn't come out until Wednesday here in the States. I'm sorry your not allowed to play a game you downloaded before the official release date. (If you happen to get your legitimate copy early, great, but did you really think you'd be able to play it already?)
Many of us will buy the game, and when something gets released, we will rip it, and play it. Luckily, we have people around that release home brew like this, to give us a new feature to play on our ps3. I don't know about you, but I can't keep up with every new game that gets released. I'm still on Fallout Vegas. If GT5 is THAT important to you, update your ps3 and play the game when its released, or buy a second ps3 and use that to play it. Or you could work on this "payload" or whatever method to get the game to work. There's no point complaining about it. Good things come to those who wait. Be patient.
Back on point. Thank you very much for the post. I just installed this on my ps3 and I'm about to give it a try. Keep up the great work. The majority of people appreciate what your doing.
In any case, I'm still intent on porting gZDoom - there is a great TC WAD for ZDoom out there called PSX Doom - I want that to run on my PS3 combined with the lovely shaders we currently have in SNES9x PS3/FCEU/FBA/VBA.
It doesn't look like I will be using PSL1ght though until it fully matures, though. So it will be a port with the official SDK - I don't care about legitimacy or it being legal when I have to sacrifice speed, functionality and usability for it. I'm not denigrating the decision of others to go with PSL1ght though - if it were offering everything the PS3 SDK did right now, I would contemplate porting SNES9x PS3 and any other emulator port I'm working on over to it. But as it currently stands, I will stick with the PS3 SDK.
Having to rely on an SPE for blitter/scaler purposes, the syscall EXITGAME hook not being hooked up (and resulting in a crash), not much RSX functionality supported (either 2D or 3D) - I think those are definitely all drawbacks that combined gives me ample reason to not go with PSL1ght right now.
I played Doom 2 first on a 486 without a soundcard - only music/sound that came out of it was through a PC speaker. Sounded worse than a NES in fact, but had a certain charm to it. It also had 4MB of RAM - so it meant a lot of chugging at the endboss stage where it spawns all of the tens of enemies in front of you.
Kids complaining need to STFU, grown-ups are talking. Anyone who doesn't respect Doom can eat a dick at their own stupidity, especially since it's almost 100% probable they love a game directly influenced or created as a result of Doom
Excellent, I've pretty much just got through playing Ultimate Doom / Final Doom for PSX, may as well give this a try, looks great.
Thanks :ups:
best homebrew so far since open manger was released. good work.
this is right up there with another world on my jtag.
Perhaps Doom Music would make this cooler, but this is still a very cool announcement.
lol , would it be crazy just to pop-in usb with a wii-game and play it with your move-controller that would be totally busted for wii :D
Great job on this release man.:)
I have honestly been waiting on this ever since homebrew started coming out. I was honestly just thinking about it yesterday wondering when/if anybody was gonna do this and you have answered my prayers.
Keep up the good work!
