    The biggest barrier to this, though, will be that the Dreamcast used GD-Roms, which the PS3 presumably can't read. So putting a disc in and running it right away is pretty much out.

    This is great news! A PS1 emulator or loader (since ps3 is already compatible) would be awesome. Think of all those great RPGs.

    Both GC and Wii (Xbox 360 too) are using IBM PowerPC processor, so there are no need too emulate most instructions.
