The biggest barrier to this, though, will be that the Dreamcast used GD-Roms, which the PS3 presumably can't read. So putting a disc in and running it right away is pretty much out.

This is great news! A PS1 emulator or loader (since ps3 is already compatible) would be awesome. Think of all those great RPGs.

Both GC and Wii (Xbox 360 too) are using IBM PowerPC processor, so there are no need too emulate most instructions.

haha that would be crazy
who knows, maybe in the near future we have all consoles in our PS3 :-)

You forgot: Shenmue and even the first Sonic Adventure...Metropolis Street Racer was good too, it was technically the first Project Gotham Racing game!
