New Slim PS3 Model Will Features PS2 Backward Compatibility?

Recently, a report has discovered an added PS2 compatibility feature on the translated page of the new PS3 slim console. Specifically it says in the notes at the bottom of the CECH-3000B model page that:

“This product, “PlayStation 2″ are having a compatibility with proprietary software.”

great news for those wanting ps2 in slims.

So do you think this will have the emotion chip put back in it wouldn't that cost sony again or do you think everything they have removed will cover it?
I hope not then someone can use this in the fats and slims that never got it!
i will take it as payment for removing linux

seriously doubting this. they were pretty adamant about removing it, but who knows, hopefully im wrong.

they are trying to cut costs tho, so i doubt they will be putting any of the ps2 chips back in (or maybe they re-engineered them to make them cheaper to manufacture?), if so then the compatibility will probably be pretty terrible.

It’s correct Press Release Translation.

I don't get the sentence: "This product, “PlayStation 2″ are having a compatibility “without” proprietary software."

But anyway..his last sentence ("Regrettably We cann’t Play PS2 Software…") should be clear enough for anybody

So it seems that it was just a wrong translation.

On every PS3 box it says that it doesn't play PS2 software, except launch models. It's just a bad translation.

I'm fine either way, I'm buying a 40gb ps3 next month. One for games and one for CFW.
