i downloaded it and extracted it fine. it even downloaded from idm
Are you sure you are talking about the same download ?
We are not talking about the original release as in the first post of this thread.
The failing one is the one for "mednafen-ps3-r7.zip" available through a local attachment link in post#75 above. And that one does NOT unpack cleanly (I just tried it one more time).
I also don't know what you mean by "even downloaded from idm".
The revision I mentioned is only available through a local attachment link.
And finding the same revision on the original release site also failed, as their megaupload link had somehow expired or been invalidated. That download of 'r7' simply didn't work.
If you do have 'r7' of this program, please post a working attachment for us.
@Jay-Jay:
You got that in just before me.
I didn't mean to 'step on your toes' like that...
I have tested it guys and it downloads and extracts fine for me. The only thing I can think of is that for some reason it's not compatible with the app you're using to extract it?

I tried WinRAR and 7zip on both post #75 and #82 files. Neither will extract without error.
Somewhere between Pluto and Mercury, but closer to Pluto. :)

Okay, I think I troubleshooted the problem. subcon959 report on the zip file is correct. The zip file does extract. So does my rar file above.
Before, I just clicked on the attachment link and wait for the pop-up to ask me to save the file to my PC. But each time I did this the extraction procedure failed. So I then proceeded with a different method of downloading the attachment and this time the extraction was successful.
What I did was:
1. Right click on the attachment,
2. select Save Link As (firefox), and it downloaded correctly.
Seems like any other method will not fully download the file. Weird, because I have downloaded many attachments in this forum and this is the first time I run into this strange behavior. Internet funkiness?

I found the 'missing' release mentioned above.
I finally managed to get it from 'megaupload'.
But I was not able to make a working download attachment, neither as ZIP nor RAR.
I suspect that the attachment is fine, really, but the server is no longer able to deliver downloads safely.
And that is not just due to traffic overload, but is also due to a serious server bug.
Every time a download is terminated due to traffic overload the server generates an error message in the form of a simple HTML page. But instead of sending that page as a response to the browser requesting the download, the server instead injects this HTML page as a final part of the partially downloaded file. Firefox then accepts it as a true final part of the partial download and keeps it in cache. If the download is then attempted again, Firefox will proceed at the point it sees as the 'break' in the previous attempt (even if you deleted the partial file), and that point will be after the erroneously injected HTML error message. Thus the resulting download will always be corrupt.
I am now going to report this server bug in one of the site moderator forums, in the hope that one of the site admins can fix it.
Edit:
I have read the posts above by you guys, and I will test this some more before my final report.
Edit 2:
I have now confirmed that the erroneous injection of the HTML error message into the downloaded file occurs even if the download was initiated by a 'right click' on the link followed by using the command "Save Link As..." in the popup menu. So that method made absolutely no difference. So the entire problem is caused by the server bug which strikes at traffic-induced premature termination of a download, and it must have been pure luck that the right-click method seemed to help, probably because the download succeeded without retries that time (which has never happened for me with that file today).
With all this extra load <3mb downloads on psx scene are broken and always finish early causing corruption.
Can someone with a working r7 PKG upload in small parts (1mb) or upload to mediafire?

I have discovered that this traffic-induced termination of downloads triggers a site bug that corrupts the partial downloads, which is why it does not work to resume those downloads with repeated attempts until you have the whole file.
I have reported this bug, in extensive detail, to the site admins. So if/when they can fix that bug we should be able to use resumed downloads successfully to completely download large files despite these premature terminations that happen due to the intense site traffic.
I hope they do fix it soon because its just a waste of bandwidth repetitively trying to download files hoping to get it in one hit in turn making the load worse.
