    @squarepusher2
you have outdone yourself with these five emulators and all of the updates

a question (kinda offtopic): are shaders specific for the emulators you develop or can they be implemented in any sort of homebrew? say dosbox. i was just thinking about windows 95/98 with dual shaders . not to mention doom, wolf3D and other games.
The CG shaders could be used in any PS3 app as long as those apps make use of the Cg runtime compiler and as long as they use vertex/fragment parameters - I dunno if PSL1GHT has a Cg runtime compiler - I'm guessing it doesn't - so that would leave the official PS3 SDK as your only option.

I'm thinking that some of the PSP emulators out there that ZX-81 and I worked on might be easily ported, but I wasn't sure.

I'm particularly interested in trying to port the later versions of Stella (Atari 2600) and Prosystem (Atari 7800). I have the original source for these (C++ for Windows) and the PSP ports (PSPSDK).
Yeah - codebase needs to support PPC, otherwise we get nowhere.

To Lantus' credit though - he seems to be the only one so far that has taken a codebase that was x86-only (Final Burn Alpha) and done a PPC port. So where there's a will, there's a way I guess.

No it doesn't. Genesis Plus GX on the Gamecube/Wii doesn't support it also - it doesn't support the Mega CD either. Perhaps in the future it will - but for now, you just have to be satisfied with a cycle-accurate Mega Drive/Genesis emulator that also has Sega Master System support. Really, that's not something to complain about.

And BTW - there is no open-source Mega Drive emu (that is PPC compatible) that can easily be ported to PS3 that has 32X support.

Cheat code support is not implemented yet for Genesis Plus GX PS3 - will be for the next release.

Right now, I'm working on getting FCE Ultra PS3 up-to-date with Genesis Plus and SNES9x. Next one after that will be VBA.

Yes, I know this - you saw us discussing this emulator back in the previous thread.

Here's why you won't be seeing Picodrive anytime soon on PS3 unless the main author decides to work on it -

1 - The PSP port is MIPS.

2 - The PSP port is massively inferior to the GP2x version anyways, and the GP2x version is written for ARM.

Only the mainauthor himself (Notaz) would have any success porting it to PPC.

The framerate will drop noticably, and the audio will become choppy. This seems to get worse if you repeat, and it happened also with v1.2.
It's due to the controller code in Cellframework2. I would have to take a look at it again - best way to fix it for now is to simply set it up so that the joypad doesn't automatically disconnect for now. (go to Settings in XMB - Power Save Settings - set Controller Auto-Off to 'Off'.)

One quick question i may be missing. Is their a way while in game playing the ROM to access the menu to go back and pick a different game?

    Thanks
Oh sure - just press L3 + R3 while in-game to go back to the ROM Browser menu - you can press R2 + L2 while inside the ROM Browser menu to return back to the game.

I will look into that game you mentioned as not working.

Well, this problem is mainly a frontend port issue - the PS3 version in other words - Genesis Plus GX core has little if anything to do with. Only two people were ever involved in the PS3 port - Mr. Anonymous created the initial port and I helped improve it and maintain it to this day. So, I guess me and Themaister are pretty much the only ones that still work on it.

Anyway, I will have a look at this issue.

Personally, I don't like to use any boxed shader with Genesis Plus because it changes the aspect ratio. That's because the emulator use 320x224 instead of 320x240 to render the picture. And 320x224 is not 4:3.
EDIT: Scrap that - you're right.
