Anyone out there in dev land that would consider having a go at porting this, the amount of old skool awesomeness this would enable on PS3 would be incredible..
Some of my favourites:
Tyrian
X-Com
Blood
Ultima Underworld
Powerslave (exhumed)
Little Big Adventure
Raptor
Thunder Brigade
Quarantine II
Dune II
Albion
Descent II
Inner worlds
Syndicate
Crusader
Warcraft 2
Duke Nukem 3D
Shadow Warrior
Epic Pinball
OK.. must stop now getting a little carried away, anyway i hope someone agrees and is interested enough to attempt this.
Thanks for listening.

Sigh.
Look, you're new here - so i'll go easy on you.
These sorts of posts tend to REALLY annoy both the scene and the developers... if you have a request, get coding.
Please avoid posting in this way in the future.
I know how exciting it is to unlock your ps3's full potential, but just chill and enjoy whats out there now.

and don't forget:
Windows 3.1
Windows 95
Windows 98

i'm also waiting for a dosbox port.
@ultragoregrind
no offence but it's getting annoying that both the scene and the developers tend to write that they're annoyed rather than just let people suggest something. all i see are threads where someone suggests something and the very next post is "you annoy people with this", "go do it yourself then", and so on... c'mon, since when are suggestions so annoying and since when get developers annoyed from seeing that certain emulators can start many threads? shouldn't that motivate them even more? seeing how many requests there are and how many people would love their upcoming homebrew?

More people porting apps to GameOS would be nice to see, though.
It takes a huge time investment even to get all of the ports I've took under my wing updated - never mind taking on yet another one.

Come on now square im sure you are itching to do something with ps1 emulation.
Im just messing with you but yea it would be great if we could have some sort of ps1 emu on the ps3. We have the internal one but we dont have access to it.
I know that you have WAY to much under you belt to even think about messing with it though.
Btw i remember you saying awhile ago that you were planning on doing something with doom. Is that still something that you are planning on or allready have in the works?

I agree. Requests of any kind are pretty annoying. But DOSbox would totally PWN all emulators that are out right now. I loved it when I got DOSbox working on Wii, except it was never updated I don't think. There WERE some games that just wouldn't work on the Wii port of it. I have experience with some that didnt work. Epic Pinball being one of them. But ya I think it would probably work better if it was on the Ps3. What would be weird is....what do you think the drive letter would be on the ps3? lol

DosBox would be 'easy' to port?

I never said it'd be easy :P since the one on Wii wasn't released right away either. Took time.

I'm gonna go ahead and announce my intent to port this (along with SDL) to the PS3 cell SDK. There's still lots of clean up to be done, but I've got dosbox running, including games (I've only tested 'Eye of the Beholder'). The SDL port is still missing audio, mouse, and joystick support.
I'm curious if anyone has any ideas that can be used to allow this to be used to its fullest without hooking up a keyboard. Any ideas on how to mount and load the games, or handling kb input in the games would be appreciated.
Hopefully with an SDL port, other apps can be ported too (that SDL version of mame is looking pretty juicy).
I'll post again later with a link to a code repo.
